DVD Ripper V8 Wont convert ISO to MKV

    Hi All,

Been hunting round the forums, and have not managed to find anything to help with my problem.

    Specs
    3.8ghz i5, 4gb Ram, Windows 7 64bit and a radeon HD 5850

V7 - i can encode an ISO to MKV no time whatsoever, 4000kbs as the Bitrate and sourceaudio - I leave everything else alone.

When i use v8 (inc all the beta's) it starts at 40fps and then just drops to 0 and sits there.

The weird thing is, in V7 the encoding window tells me the status and such, but in V8 it doesnt say anything, its just all blank.....is that right?

Anyway, is there anthing i can do ? All settings are identical in v7 and v8 - just V8 doesnt like me at all!

    Ta!

Have you tried mounting the ISO to virtual drive and then try to convert using DVDFab? Also the Process and internal logs would help they located in document-dvdfab-log.

          hi,

this problem is caused by default-profile, the old default profile using the error encode profile/level, so please select one new mkv profile, and try again, you also can save this profile to default profile to replace the old one.

          thanks

            Bitrate....and DVD to ISO (DVD5)

            Hi,

Thanks :-) Deleted all the "default" profiles and its working fine now :-)

            Thank you!

Just one last question for everyone.

If in encoding to 4000kbps bitrate MKV which is giving me a file of 3.5 to 4 gb in size for a normal DVD rip, would i be better just creating ISO's to DVD5?

(size isnt much of an issue, i have 4TB available on my NAS, so im covered for a while) and saving 2gb from an normal ISO over 250 DVD's is worth it for all those about to say if size inst an issue then just do ISO or VOB :-)

Anyway, i'll stop rambling and ask......

How does the DVD to ISO (DVD5) work? Is it less than 4000 bitrate....
