BD Ripper (3D Plus) Blu-Ray to Mobile useless and since v8 so is DVD to mobile

I've never been able to rip ANY Blu Ray and play it on my iPod Classic. Itunes rejects upload to iPod because it is not compatible. There have been several releases since I raised this with support and it still doesn't work.

Now since v8 DVD to mobile is also unuseable for iPod conversion. It produces video squashed horizontally with letterbox bars down each side AND has hit and miss audio sync issues.

On a good point, I can now use (removed) (which doesn't decrypt) in conjunction with DVD Fab Passkey. (removed) has always been rock solid, but is slower than DVDFab.

How can they keep on making software releases and not fix fundamental faults making it USELESS for converting Blu-Ray to iPod and now also useless for DVD to iPod. After all, it clearly says on the website that it can convert to iPod. This is not my experience and I've tried all suggestions. I don't believe it has ever worked and in fact cannot convert Blu-Ray to the iPod Classic video standards. Nobody has managed to contradict this statement yet on this forum..

I've gone back to 7.0.9.3 - but that is still very flakey for DVD to mobile and yes - useless for Blu-Ray to iPod

I have retested Blu-Ray and DVD to iPod Classic and now think the DVD rip issue is a problem in the iPod 5G profile (this works perfectly on DVDFab 7 but not 8.0.2.2). I need to experiment further.

However, the Blu-Ray to iPod Classic is still the same and cannot produce a file that can be played on an iPod Classic. Reading other posts and moderator comments, I believe this is because the iPod classic requires (and I quote from the Apple technical specs) - "Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile".

I genuinely believe that Blu Ray Ripper has never been capable of ripping a Blu Ray that will play on an iPod Classic (which by the way is the current top of the range iPod).

The rip all seems to work OK (although occassionally it never seems to finish - as in the second example here). It is when you load it into iTunes and sync your iPod that the error message:

““I_AM_LEGEND_B5.Title93.BlurayRip” was not copied to the iPod ‘<name>’ because it cannot be played on this iPod”

This happens every time whether the iPod/iPhone or Generic MP4 profiles are used.

Attempt 2 Blu Ray to iPod/iPhone (in this case the rip just carried on with 0s to completion displayed. I cancelled the rip and found the output played OK in Quicktime (I also got this fails to terminate issue on DVD rips and found the result could be loaded to iPod - albeit with the wrong aspect ratio - so I suspect the converted file is actually complete)

I get blu-ray rips to play on my ipod by first ripping the movies to an MKV file. (mkv.h264.audiocopy profile). Then I use DVDFab File to Mobile (Video Converter) to convert the MKV file to an IPOD.h264 file.

It's not the most ideal solution considering the extra steps involved, but it does work. I can get the file sizes down to 4-500mb with the ipod.h264 profile, and they play and sound great on my ipod - and my ipod is the version that came out before the ipod classic!

I tried that earlier when somebody (perhaps it was you?) kindly suggested ripping to MKV first, but MKV crashed every time.

I tried it again on 8.0.2.2 and yet again within seconds of starting the conversion it errors with code 500(?). However, I did try a few different Blu Rays and some didn't error, but unfortunately after converting to MP4 I had bad audio sync. Tried three different movies (took most of Saturday to do) and each time bad audio sync.

However, some good news - I did manage to rip one that caused MKV to error to AVI then to MP4 and hey presto my first ever Blu Ray on iPod classic.
Tried this for other and again bad audio sync. Sadly I find version 8 has much worse audio sync problems than previously.

Let's just hope that they fix these issues because I find it extremely irritating when they keep making new releases for petty issues like can't rip a particular DVD, but fail to address the really serious issues like BD Ripper appears to be totally useless at doing a direct rip that can be played on an iPod Classic.

Come on guys - I work in software support and it is essential you prioritise your bug fixes. Issues don't come more important than it doesn't work at all on the leading brand and model of portable MP4 players (ie the iPod Classic). That's what's technically known as a show stopper.

I have the same issue with ripping BD to MKV getting the process failed error 500 etc. It only happened on certain movies though. I think it has something to do with the Audio recognized. If you have PCM or whatever it is or any other high end type of audio selected when you try to rip, it fails. As soon as i select AC3 5.1 it rips fine.
