problem with DVDFab outputting jerky video

OK, I'm new to this so be gentle.

I have the same problem with DVDFab outputting jerky video when using the MP4 profiles.

Under the 'iPod/iPhone' category, there is a profile called 'iphone4.1080p.mp4' that encodes using your preferred h264 and AAC codecs, and it has not displayed the jerky video problem for me yet, even with 2-pass high-bitrate settings. Mind you, the output format is m4v, which may cause you some trouble, I don't really know how different a container it is than standard mp4.

If it works for you, it may serve as a workaround until the jerky mp4 problem is (hopefully someday) fixed.

EDIT: Just a little note that these m4v files created with the iphone.1080p.mp4 profile play fine on the PS3 (also on PS3 via MediaTomb if you set them to video/mp4 type), and if you simply rename them to .mp4 they work with Windows Media Player, and Media Player Classic, too. Hope this is a usable workaround!

    Hi Chilkoot,

Thanks for your valuable and descriptive information, we will report to our devs and try to find where the problem is with this jerky video.
For now, we suggest you set Common Settings ->A/V Codec ->video decoder as software and video encoder as software, choose encoding method as 1-pass to convert.

    Sincerely,
    Sunny

Well, this workaround I've been using isn't perfect either. It seems that no matter how I try to encode the audio (multichannel/ProLogicII/Surround) with the iphone.1080p.mp4 profile, everything from the center channel is redirected to the right channels (front and rear).

Still no way to have both high-quality h264 video and AAC audio correctly It's either jerky (mp4 profiles) or the audio is whacked (ipod/iphone profiles). Hopefully someone else finds a way to get the audio problems straightened out so we can do a proper high-quality Blu-Ray rip with this software.

        Hi all,

Please try to install DVDFab 8.0.5.1 Beta at

to convert again, then check if you still get the same jerky problem.

        Sincerely,
        Sunny

          Beta 8.052 test

This link brings up 8.0.5.2? Tried a quick test. Rip using profile AppleTV produced good quality video. Rip using profile generic.mp4.H264.aac still giving jerky video. As Chilkoot noted, rip using Iphone.H264.1080p produced good quality video (file is about 8x larger though). Is there other information that we can provide?

PS: AppleTV profile had produced jerky video in prior version 8.02x (did not test in other versions). All tests ran in OS WinXP. Used 1pass & 2pass on profile generic.mp4.h264.aac.

Not sure if you need this but here is the log files:
