Blu-ray Copy The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

    Hi All,

I'm new to the MAC but have used FAB in the past on a windows machine, so have a good idea how it normally works.

Has anyone been able to back-up the above Blu-ray disc new Daniel Craig version ? For me it just freezes dvdfab and the program no longer responds...

I'm using a Pioneer BDR-XD04T drive with my I7 2.93 iMac running Lion if that's of any help. It's also the only BD i've had issues with so far

    Cheers

    Rod

Just incase any of the dev's read this or anyone that can help. I've downloaded and tried the latest beta and fab still goes "not responding" whilst opening the disc. Oh and the windows fab can rip the movie without issue!!

        Hi RodMingo:
Would you please post your internal.log just like the windows, but the path change to: documents\dvdfab\log\dvdfab_internal.log.
Or how about the iso? I mean you clone the disc to iso and run with DVDfab for Mac.
Since I though, maybe it is a compatibility of Pioneer BDR-XD04T drive and Mac OS.

          Hi RodMingo,
Pleas do not launch DVDfab and insert the disc into the BD-ROM to check whether the Mac os can mount the disc or not. If it can't, it's the issue of the compatibility of your BD-ROM. If it can mount the disc, it may be the issue of DVDFab. Please feed back. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi, I don't understand quiet what you mean here, use dvdfab to create the iso ? Fab fails trying to open the disc in the first place ........

This disc mounts and can be seen on the desktop fine, I can watch the Blu-ray on my MAC with DVDfabmediaPlayer

I haven't had any trouble backing up other Blu-ray disc's with the pioneer drive and mac, so don't believe it's a compatability issue.

I wonder if it's a cinavia issue as it seems to go wrong after you click ok to the warning about the protection when it pops on screen.

              Cheers

Log with new version of fab out today. Now it gets to the selection screen if I use the movie only option, but no further. If I choose full disc option it's the same thing. It gets past the opening source sequence, but freezes the program as soon as you try to start the ripping process........

                Kind Regards

                Rod Mingo

P.S very pleased with 2 release's in 2 days and although things appear to be moving it the right direction we're not there yet .. keep it up chaps hopefully you'll have cracked it soon

                  Same Thing Here

Same thing happens on my Mac when backing up my copy of Dragon Tattoo. When ripping the whole disc, DVDFab goes to 14.49% complete and then stops. Using an ASUS SBW-06D2X-U Bluray writer with OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). My contention is I am using the latest trial version of DVDFab (8.1.8.3) but still the problem persists on all my Bluray disc I try to back up. Want to buy the software but if it cannot rip, then I can't justify the expense. Need help.

See attached to view DVDFab screenshot....Click image for larger version

Maczones, it seems a protection issue with the movie. As I say I can play the movie using Fabmediaplayer so don't believe it has anything to do with the hardware. As such I'm sure it's just going to take some time for the fab team to work the problem out. My only diss appointment is that the windows version of fab could backup the disc maybe 2 weeks ago.
The nature of disc protection is that as the protection is updated there's a delay before a solution is found. That said in this case something else is the issue as the windows version can deal with the protection, so i believe its a mac dvdfab programing problem.

                    Regards

                    Rod

                      Rodmingo;...

I think I found a workaround....Using the Bluray Clone feature to backup the Tattoo movie, allowed the movie to be saved to an ISO file. I did not burn it to a blank yet but the file was 49GB and I presumed it was complete. Interesting note, when I used the Clone feature an initial warning came up informing the disk was protected with Cinavia. I also tried to back up the latest Bluray Star Trek movie via the Clone feature too but this movie could not be backed up. It would progress up to 12.49% and then stop on every attempt. This disc did not show it had Cinavia. No idea why it would not work but need help. BTW both discs could not be backed up using the "Full Disc" feature. Both discs would stall at 14%.

I'll try cloning later and post how I get on.

Hey, cloning the disc seems to work, well at least I'm also able to create a cloned .iso strangely I seem unable to them rip movie only from that cloned .iso though? It gets to copy process started, the timer counts away but the % progress bar hasn't moved from 0 in half an hour!
Will try some different things tonight. I am totally convinced its simply a fab issue now and would appreciate it if any dev's do read this thread if they could post to let us know there working on it.

                          Cheers. Rod

Right I'm unable to rip the main movie to .iso from the previously created clone .ISO

However I can rip from it to MKV, seems there's some issue's for the team to Iron out, But it SORT of works .......

Rod.... Looks like you ISO'd the movie, curious to know why the Star Trek movie could not be cloned so I can back it up. Seems to me Mr. Fendago needs to put some further work into the DVDfab for Mac release. Not too happy so far with the Mac version of this software. I have yet to be successful except to ISO the Tattoo movie. Have you backed up Star Trek yet?
