Problem playing DISC in my 2013 Nissan DVD player

I'm trying to make a couple backup copies of a few of my kids movies for the car. I've tried 5 different media brands of DVD + & - R's and every time I put the movie in my cars DVD player it says "read error". I bring it in the house and pop them in my Samsung BluRay player and its reads them fine. I don't get if there is a setting I can set to be more successful playing these in my car.

I've been copying them to DVD to ISO and then I write the ISO with Disk Utility in OSX.

Any ideas?

Oh yea... I've also tried to write using my Apple Superdrive and my older Plextor writer that has served me faithfully for years.
