    Won't run at all

I tried this on a fresh install of XP SP3. Got the initial error as expected. Followed the link to download the MS package and it went in fine as well. l now try to launch DVDFab Media Player and get an error:

The procedure entry point inet_pton could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll

    Any thoughts on this?

jgw, you can try to reinstall the program and see if that works. Or open a command window and run sfc /scannow space between sfc and the slash. Have your XP install disk ready if it finds a problem with a dll it will ask for it and repair. Do not download a dll from one of those dll sites, lots of good reasons not to do that.

      Thanks for the prompt reply.

I tried an uninstall and then a reinstall -- same error
I ran sfc (takes a while) -- same error

      Any more suggestions?

Not really, this is a winsock error and the macro in the program may need to be a little different. I have an XP laptop, I'll check to see if it runs on mine but haven't seen any other reports. I'll report back in a few.

I tried it on my XP SP3 laptop and got exactly the same error. I'm not a developer so I can't fix it but I'll try to make sure they are aware of the issue. Sorry for the problem!

I have 3 desk top PCs with XP SP3 and the fab media player will not run on any of them.

Just for interest, I tried to install it on an XP 64 bit machine. Same error.

If I'm right it won't, the _WIN32_WINNT macro values are completely different for XP than Vista or Win7 and will lead to this compiler error. BTW it is beautiful on Win7.
