Initialize Failed Error

When trying to either open Media Player 2 directly or from a video I get the above error.

There is nothing in the log under documents

I have the current version of DirectX installed.

Please advise. I would like to purchase this product but do not want to if I cant even get the free version to work.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall twice

This is also happening with Virtual Drive.

I have purchased and using quite nicely the latest version of DVDFab 9 so not sure if it is my machine or not.
