I have the same issue. Every 2 seconds, it will stutter when there's large scenes in the movie that are scrolling.
For example, Alien Covenant, when the ship first lands on the planet, the ship goes from left to right, and it will skip a little every 1-2 seconds.
I am using dual monitors, mirrored. Actually: I have a 1080p monitor, and the second mirrored monitor goes to a receiver via HDMI, which then goes to a projector.

This problem is not very noticable if not much is moving in the movie scene.

EDIT: Using hardware decode, PCM hdmi sound output, deinterlace OFF.
