Other 9.1.1.6 - troubles with The Crying Game

The new BD of The Crying Game from BFI in the UK takes about 16 minutes to be decrypted by Passkey, and needs manual input to identify the region.

    Here's the Passkey log:

The disc in question is the one at https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/DVD-Blu-r...g+game+blu+ray.

NOTE that Passkey does successfully open the disc, and allows it to play, but it takes a long time. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume 16 minutes to do it means there's an issue Passkey is struggling with, not just that it's not already listed in the decryption database.

Should I upload the usual data (the disc without the Streams) to the FTP site?

    Hi,

Yes, please upload all the file except STREAM.

Oh Wilson, I'm sorry, I should have checked before asking about uploading, but it seems "The Crying Game" is similar to the other disc I've recently reported, "John Carpenter's Vampires" -- both have JAR folders that falsely report their size: on "The Crying Game", it claims to be 165 GB in size. So uploading a PISO of this one would take several days as well.

The only difference is that Passkey seems to remove the lock on The Crying Game (once the region is manually confirmed), whereas it doesn't work on Vampires.

My suggestion: if you do acquire one of these discs, and release a new version of Passkey that cracks the encryption, I can then check the other to see if it works on that one as well. Would that help?

        Hi,

Yes, some Blu-ray discs of BFI are the same protections (big JAR files). Passkey needs decrypt these discs automatically, the dev is working on this.

I'm not sure how the work is going on addressing BFI discs; I've upgraded to 9.2.0.6 and can confirm Passkey's processing rate on this title is still the same and still requires the region to be set manually.

Yes, Wilson, thanks so much! Under 9.2.0.8 it's down to less than 20 seconds. That's brilliant. ;-)

                Many thanks for the update.
