    Audio Bitrates

Why are we limited to 160Kbps for Audio?

Some files I want to convert have a higher bitrate.

We should be able to either passthrough or go closer to the bitrate, why not?

    Sean.

    Sean,
there are passthrough options and various bitrates options in different profiles. It's really depends on which profile you are using. In most of mobile profiles/presets low bitrate option dictates by mobile device limitation. If your converts are not device-specific, try another profile with passthrough or high bitrate option.

The profile I was using was PS3 so I understand now, that must be the limitation of that device yes?

How do I recognise or issue a passthru command?

      Thanks for your input.

I'm just guessing here. My guess is you are using Video Converter, PS3 profile. That profile have two presets - with AAC audio and VOB Passthrough. VOB Passthrough will create single VOB file (if you select no split) with same as source audio.

        Also, please read this tread:
Post #3 particularly. PS3 seems very picky on audio formats.
