How to save subtitle with AVI file

I am trying to include (display) subtitle to AVI file from VOB in hard drive. When I open the VOB files in "Video Converter" the "subpicture" has no listing thus not allowing me to select the subtitle prior to converting to AVI file. I am using the latest version. I know the subtitle is in the file because I can turn on the subtitle in other video player.

There is "External Subtitle Settings" but this does not help since I do not know how to create external subtitle file ".sub" and why create an external subtitle file if the subtitle is already in internal file.

    Please help. Thanks.

    /HSL

As you can see, your subpicture compressed in RLE format. That's why DVDFab can't see it. Obviously, DVDFab doesn't have de-compressing tool to handle RLE.
To simplify your life I would suggest to extract subtitles, decompress them and convert into something more common and mux them back again.
Give this thread a read, you will find it helpful, I'm pretty sure. Come back here if you have more questions.

Thank you for the info. I read the thread and downloaded "SubRip" but cannot figure out what to do next. SubRip does not save the subtitle in "srt" format that DVDFab expects. I was able to save it as ".sup" format which doesn't help.

I am a newbie so can you give me a little more detailed help or point me in the right direction?

I originally rip the DVD using DVDFab. Not sure why the subtitle is "compressed" in RLE format but what program do I need to rip the subtitle to an external file in "srt" format that DVDFab expects? How do I feed the output file from SubRip back to FabDVD so that I can combine subtitle to the video?

          Thanks.
