    newbie : mp4 to mkv

    Hi !

    Firstly, just to point out that I'm not too familiar witf video file conversion. I used dvdfab for dvd/blu-ray copy for a long time tough.

    I want to produce a MKV file to put on a USB drive so that my blu-ray drive (a Panasonic DMP-BDT110) can play it ; it is for my cottage where I don't have internet access. The drive states it supports divX and MKV format.

    I have an mp4 file. Using Video converter, I pick the file and chose the "generic.mkv.h264.aac" profile randomly (don't know which MKV profile to pick).

    Dvdfab crashes, here's the log.

    Any ideas ? Thanks !

    Hi benito
    Try turning off Cuda Open Fab click the Click the Green at top right corner of the DVD Fab screen, and open Common Settings > General >A/V Codec, put a check in Disable all GPU codes and make sure they are set to Software, restart Fab and try again.

    I have also done this with my Blu-Ray player to test.
    I had to make sure that my USB drive was formatted as Fat32 and I choose a DivX or Xvid file not sure which one and it played beautifully.

    If still having problems post back and I will try to help you along.

        You shouldn't even need to convert it.

        Try using MKVToolnix to remux it without any re-encoding.

            Thanks GregiBoy
            Just tried it with file on my USB and it took 4 min.
            Man do I have a lot to learn.

            @benito
            I have the Panasonic DMP-BDT100 and will only play DivX files

            Did a quick check on yours and it says it will play MKV, but did not say if it was thru a USB or not.
