    3D Ripper question

    Hi,
When I convert a 3d blu ray usng MKV as the format, I knwo the reolution is reduced, but, should there be any loss of 3d efects, eg, watching the disc versus watching the rip should the 3d effects be the same?
Sorry if this is a daft question but I would mlike to know. Thanks. Mark

Mark:Normally a tough question to answer because what looks good to one may not to another due to screen sizes how the tv or projector is adjusted and how bright the image is.Normally brighter and larger displays make 3d more real.Your question depends on you and your equipment i say using a 60 inch 3d tv adjusted correctly for a 3d image i can't tell the difference between both the 50 gig to 25 gig full 3d conversions and the side by side 3d as long as you don't convert them to regular single layer 4.7 gigs disks. Some people will say don't go below 8.5 gigs or so for the side by side but like i said you may have a small screen tv that all conversions will look ok.The 3d effects should stay the same as long as you don't go below what starts to look to compressed on the equipment your using.I would think about using a resolution that works on bigger tvs in case you upgrade in the future.I use m2ts audio copy on my media player because it looks very good on my 60 inch 3d tv and my computer screen.
I seen mkv and find it's ok if you use the bigger frame but to me the smaller size of the regular mkv looks to compressed on my 60 inch tv so i don't use it.Once you go to mkv with hd audio and larger frame your file size is much bigger so you don't save much space.everyone is different so you need to try both on your equipment and see what works better for you.
P.S. using a spell checker or checking your spelling will make more people able to read your posts and you may get more replies.

      3d Effects

Hi and thanks for the detailed reply.
Sorry about the spelling - never checked and should have.
I am using the mkv format on a 50" Panasonic Plasma and the audio through an Onkyo receiver but as per my other posts any 3d movies I rip with HD Master audio plays very badly. The sound drops out every few seconds so this is another annoyance! Non 3d movies play great with master audio selected but not 3d movies. Thanks again for the reply. Regards. Mark
