    CUDA Encoding issues?

Just tried to convert my Avatar 3D to a 3D MKV.

Tried with CUDA enabled, but encoding stops pretty much straight away - nothing in the log - all it shows is :

    ------ begin mobile work(1/1) ------

    2m 05.55s: info: create config(5)
    2m 05.55s: info: convert profile(mkv.h264.audiocopy.3D)
    2m 05.55s: info: bluray playlist(852),angle(0),chapter(1->36),3D(1)
    2m 05.55s: info: streams((4113.2)(4352.1)(4608.16))
    2m 05.55s: info: set output video frame_rate(24000/1001)
    2m 05.56s: info: subpicture preset(2), mode(10)
    2m 06.57s: info: h264_encode: encode param profile(2) level(41) bitrate(7458)
    2m 10.59s: info: processing source(00001.ssif)
Disabling CUDA and using software encoding only, it works fine.

    Running 8.2.2.6QT, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

Really want to use CUDA encoding as its more than twice the speed using my GTX 670 card.

    Hi NSViper,
Do not repro here. Please update your graphics driver to the lastest release and try it again.
It's better to use the lastest release for DVDFab 9020.
    Thanks.

      Hi Terry5,

Just to confirm, my machine is already on the very latest drivers for my card (GeForce Drivers 310.90 WHQL, released Jan 5th 2013).

The CUDA encoding works fine in the normal 2D BD Ripper option (I am licenced for both BD Ripper and BD 3D Ripper), its just the 3D ripper that is not working.

Just read up on the v9 software - will try that when back @ home to see if that works.

Nope same issue with 9020 - 2D ripper works fine with CUDA enabled or disabled.

3D ripper works with CUDA disabled but not enabled.

Testing this with Avatar 3D BD

Same problem here. With 2 Pass encoding enabled, CUDA does not work. 1 Pass CUDA works ok. Any encoding (1 or 2 pass/High or normal quality) with software only produces poor blocky results...

No matter how good it sounds, GUDA or other GPU acceleration, you should avoid them altogether. At least for the moment it's more a gimmick than a real solution. Even in cases that it seems to work, much too often you'll end up with broken voice or subtitles synch... Don't take my word for it; just take a peek on the support replies in here for the most of the problems.

As soon as the developers actually make GPU acceleration work, I'll throw a party for all of you!

But what about the fact that the 2D works perfectly well with Cuda? for me my i7 quad core cpu will encode 2D @ 720p with a bit rate of approx 5mb at about 30fps - running Cuda on my GTX670 runs at almost 100fps.

Comparing quality on the generated files - both look fine, no issues with audio or subtitles or video at all.

I mean I'm ok running CPU encoding 3D for now, but really I want CUDA working - a 3x or 4x performance improvement is not to be ignored.
