DVDFab 9 Video converter subtitles issue

    Hello @ll

I recently bought DVDFab 9 Video converter in order to compress and transform .mkv big files to .mp4 smaller files.

All seems to be running fine BUT I'm no able to select any subtitle track before converting (for each files the only I have is NONE (or select file) in subtitle field). I tried with a lot of movies and the case is the same. My movies do have subtitles muxed in mkv (I see it with mediainfo), but they don't appear in the main screen, even if I change my options ...

The strangest is I'm almost sure I saw subtitles seclection when I used this tool for the first time, since not ...

The only solution I have for the moment is to extract the subtitles in a file (.srt) with mkvtoolnix, then import the file in DVDFab 9.
Do you have a good idea for a dummy ?

    Thanks a lot ...

Same issue. No subtitles show up in DVDFab for my files when trying to convert to iPad 4 format. Using v9.1.5.2. An example of a file I am trying to convert is below:

Most encoders will not convert SRT (Text Subtitle), only PGC (BluRay) and SUB/IDX (DVD).

The MP4 spec also does not allow SRT subs.

You can try to get a result by demuxing the subs and muxing them back into the MP4 using tools freely available on the internet.

I would rather be able to render the Forced subtitles to the video in DVDFab. It seems like something that should be possible.

Seems like that DVDFab does not support the remux subtitle with UTF-8 codec.
I have been report this to our developer.

            Hi guys.

I was just wondering if the programmers have gotten to close to adding UTF-8 codec subtitles, yet.

I've also been solving it by extracting it with mkvextract (at the command line) and remuxing it back in, during the conversion with DVDFab v9.2.3.1 (Windows 7 -64bit).

This is far from elegant. Actually, it's a big pain in the butt.

I was going to start a new thread, but found this one with the exact same problem that I have. Hopefully, this will move it up in the queue a bit.

Lake of UTF-8 conversion table for subtitles

              Hello

DVDfab9 converter is a very good tool except for subtitle characters conversion.
It uses for converting UTF-8 coded subtitles source an ISO-8859-15 table.
              Other choices are worst.

As a result, for a french text, a very bad conversion of the accents and lake of some symbols as the apostrophe (').
There is not a good publicity for that product

              Here is an example
              1 from source TS
              2 from DBVFab9 MKV conversion (V9.2.3.7)

              best wishes

                Hello

I try to convert UTF-8 subtitle with the choice of ISO-8859-8 as suggested by DVDFab9 support.
The result don't work better, as you see...
It seems that issue should not be solved as long as UTF-8 and ANSI will be "codec unknown" for DVDFab9 converter.

                best wishes
