downconvert hevc main10@5.0 profile 3840x2160 mkv video to h264 1920x1080 mkv

tried to downconvert hevc main10@5.0 profile 3840x2160 mkv video to h264 1920x1080 mkv video.
process worked except ... color is off red is muted.
it seems like it is not getting the HDR info and using it to generate the proper color ?????????
any thoughts would be appreciated as to what is going wrong?
