    Amazon bitrate low

Anyone else notice the bitrate is halved with amazon? Other software is producing much higher bitrate from same source. Is there anyway to change this? Im set at the highest for both audio and video...

Can you share more info? Like:
    1. Are you downloading the same video codec (H264 or H265) on both StreamFab and the other product? (NOTE: if you are downloading H264 with one, and H265 with the other, you will see different bit rates, this is expected).
    2. What title are you having the issue with?
    3. Is it just certain titles? or all?
    4. Are you talking video or audio bitrate?
    5. What bit rates are you seeing?
    6. Can you share your settings under VIP Settings for Video Codec, Audio Codec, and video resolution.
    7. Can you use MediaInfo https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo and share the info about the two copies you are comparing? (helpful to see the differences)
And I'm sure the developers would love it if you can share your logs so they can take a look.

The only settings in StreamFab we can select that impacts Amazon are Video Codec, Audio Codec, and video resolution.

I am pasting the 2 txt files one for the streamfab download and the other for the script downloader.

How exactly does streamfab work? Does it pull directly from the CDN or is it a situation where it converts after the fact. It looks to me like its pulling the 720P file then converting to 1080 to get around the DRM issues that started on Dec 7. This may be the discrepancy between the two files. I dont know where my log files are, but id love to put them here for the devs.

Both files are AVC but they appear to be using different codecs. The "Script" one is MPEG4, the StreamFab is AVC/H264. Using different codecs can account for the video bit rate differences. But I'm not sure if that is really what is happening here. I wonder if using FFMpeg against the files ( ffprobe -show_streams -i "file.mp4" ) to get more details might reveal something else?

I don't know what the process is behind the scenes on either StreamFab or other tools so I can't explain that. When I tried a competing product before December 1, the downloads from it and StreamFab were identical when I selected the same resolution and codec. And by identical, I mean same video bit rates and codecs, and audio when viewing with MediaInfo. So I don't expect StreamFab is re-encoding at all. I don't know what your script option does so I can't speak to it.

With StreamFab 5.0.0.8 and 5.0.0.9 they did implemented a work around that involved having to re-encode after download (it gave a pop-up message when it had to do this) but this was only a few titles and didn't happen often for me. That seems to be fixed with 5.0.1.3 and 5.0.1.4 based on the release notes for those versions, and I did not see the pop up when I re-downloaded those titles.

As for the logs, see post #3 of -> https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forum/softwa...-streamfab-faq

This was a known issue before.....Amazon is providing a lower quality stream to the browsers than to other devices. The script is not using the Chrome CDM, so is able to access higher quality streams....not much Streamfab can do to change that. It's not unique to Amazon as Netflix has also done it in the past. Normally, after thousands of complaints, Amazon will adjust the quality, but I wouldn't count on it this time....
Welcome to the wonderful world of DRM.

Both files are using the same Codec, which wouldn't matter anyway. You are only downloading the file...not encoding it.
Just keep in mind, for any given title, many streams exist. I believe the latest episodes of The Wheel of Time have 21 different video streams. Multiple streams for each resolution, for VBR or CBR and for H264 or H265. A person using a script can usually choose from any of the above. A browser usually gets one stream per resolution to choose from.

You are correct about this, funny thing is comparing the files running side by side, you cant tell the difference anyway accept for when it is extremely dark. Honestly its a non-issue and tbh the lower file size is better for streaming when not at home. I suppose if bitrate is important we should get the bluray and work with that LOL. I was just checking to make sure I didnt have a setting somewhere to get more quality out of it.

AGREE, for my purposes, I prefer the moderate bitrate 1080p version, although an option might be nice, it would complicate the interface.

How exactly does streamfab work? Does it pull directly from the CDN or is it a situation where it converts after the fact. It looks to me like its pulling the 720P file then converting to 1080 to get around the DRM issues that started on Dec 7. This may be the discrepancy between the two files. I dont know where my log files are, but id love to put them here for the devs.
hello or found a script to download amzn? Can you mp me in relation to this. because the script is much better than streamfab why, streamfab does not take the real bitrate amzn is in vbr while the script takes the real stream is in cbr that's why the difference in video bitrate.
