    Wavy Lines After AI Enhancements

Hello, I am trialing Unifab v2.0.3.8 currently and the AI enhancements. I was interested in purchasing it however I cannot purchase it with these current issues! I'm currently having major issues with two separate DVD shows (720x480) that were ripped with MakeMKV. The original file does not have these wavy lines, but when I use any type of AI enhancement or AI upscaling, I get the wavy lines. The video quality looks nice, but it's just the wavy lines that are the issue!

Edit: I was looking at the unifab logs and I think I may see an issue. Like I mentioned, the original files are 720x480. I do see this in the log, but I also see it's doing something with 720x540. It should have nothing to do with 720x540!

    In the log my original video: info: stream input@ Video(0)[codec(mpeg2video) size(720*480) fps(30000/1001) interlace(1) duration(2725)sec opcode(compress) fmt(yuv420p) profile(4) level(8)]

    In the log output is 720x540: info: stream output Video(0)[codec(h264) size(720*540) fps(30000/1001) interlace(0) bitrate(4743) duration(2725)sec fmt(yuv420p) profile(4) level(8) opcode(compress)]

Here is the other show that was ripped with MakeMKV and used the Denoise AI. I kept it 1x at 720x480. The output definitely looks more clear and removed the noise for the most part. The only issue is the wavy lines again!

Why does it keep doing this? I actually used denoise AI on a 1080p movie and it did not have these wavy lines and only seems to be happening on DVD rips.

Flixxer could your video be interlaced?

Quite a few of the older 480p and 576p DVD videos were interlaced.

For example with my copy of Star Trek Voyager Season 2 I get about 20-30% (max) of them with the video header saying they are interlaced but I have similar problems to you with quite a few of the other videos. I found that using the ReStream app to set the interlaced flag (and that's all I needed to do) mostly resolves the problem for me, in fact I just set the flag for all the videos from season 2. Oddly Season 1 doesn't seem to be interlaced but Season 3 has all its videos flagged as interlaced and they are fine when put through the DeInterlace module.

I ended up sending you the log file in a private message. There is some information in there I don't want public. Please see your private messages from me.

Thanks for the reply! It is interlaced, but even when using their deinterlace tool, it results in the same wavy lines. So either their tool doesn't deinterlace like it should or there is something else wrong.

Thanks for letting me know about ReStream and I'll keep that in mind for future videos for sure. However, if they expect me to pay $300 + Tax for a tool and it doesn't work like it should there is a huge issue. And I definitely shouldn't have to use another tool before using theirs to get the quality I'm looking for.

With only 3 tries within a 30 day period, that doesn't allow me to report bugs and try any fixes they may provide. And that's IF they fix it within 30 days. And from what I see in these forums, that's highly doubtful. I think it would be better to have at least 10 tries without the 30 days period to truly test out UniFab. Unless they would allow me another limited trial, my trial is up and unable to test any further.
