    Paramount+ subtitle missing

I used v6.0.0.4 (Win) to download the Mark Wahlberg Movie "Infinite" from Paramount+. If I play that move through the Paramount website, it has English subtitles. When I download it with StreamFab, the resulting file has no subtitles (I have the settings set to remux the subtitles into the movie file.) I did select English subtitles in the StreamFab interface after it analyzed the movie -- actually that was the default.

What does MediaInfo show for your file?
With my settings set to make a .mkv file with the subtitles remuxed into the file, MediaInfo looks like this...

With my settings set to a .mkv file and a .srt file, I get virtually the same MediaInfo but without the Text section and I have a separate .srt file.
Are you downloading to a .mkv file or .mp4?
I am downloading directly from Paramount+. Are you downloading directly or via the Amazon Paramount+ channel?

MediaInfo shows no subtitles. I am downloading directly from Paramount+. I am downloading to .mp4. I will try downloading to mkv. I'll also try setting StreamFab to download to an .srt file instead of remuxing.

Update. I downloaded it as an mkv instead of mp4 and set streamfab to save the subtitle as an .srt file. It download the mkv but there was no srt file, and mediainfo showed no subtitles. It must be a problem with this particular movie.

Do a clean install... meaning uninstall and delete everything StreamFab. Something is probably wrong with your remuxer.

I uninstalled and re-installed. Still no subtitles for that movie. I tried a different movie (Forest Gump) and got subtitles for it. It seems that "Infinite" has a problem with the subtitles. Thanks for the suggestions though.

If you look at Message # 2 you'll see from my MediaInfo that I downloaded Infinite (both as 'In file' and as .srt) and so I clearly am not having any problem with it's subtitles.
Where are you located? You said you are getting from Paramount+ directly, is the Paramount+ located in your country? Are you using a VPN?
              What language are your subtitles?
Upload your MediaInfo text from your 'in file' download of Infinite.
Although I can't read the contents of your StreamFab.log, upload that, too.
When you did your uninstall/install of SF, did you also delete your SF Temp folder? Of course you are using the offline installer and not that broken pop-up installer, right?

A lot of questions, I know, but that's how you get problems solved

Sorry, I didn't notice that the mediainfo output you posted in message # 2 was for specifically for "Infinite". I thought it was an example -- I should have paid more attention. To answer your questions. I am in the U.S. I am getting Paramount+ directly as a subscriber to their website, paramountplus.com. I am not using a VPN. The subtitles I select are English. In the StreamFab settings, I selected the output to be mkv (ffmpeg) and the subtitles to be remuxed. When I uninstalled, I used a utility, Advanced Uninstaller Pro 13, which uses the subject program's uninstall routine, then scans for additional related items that the program's uninstaller missed. I am not sure what you mean by "using the offline installer and not that broken pop-up installer".

I did not delete the StreamFab Temp folder when I uninstalled and re-installed yesterday. So after seeing your message, I uninstalled again (with Advanced Uninstaller Pro 13), deleted the StreamFab temp folder, and reinstalled. I then used StreamFab 6.0.0.4 to download "Infinite" again, choosing English for subtitles in the GUI (actually it defaulted to English). The resulting download has no subtitles. I have attached the StreamFab log. Note that at 2022:11:29-15:22:30 it says "Subtitle Info empty", so that may be relevant.

Thank you for all your time and effort regarding this.

Here is MediaInfo for the downloaded file:

The resulting download has no subtitles. I have attached the StreamFab log. Note that at 2022:11:29-15:22:30 it says "Subtitle Info empty", so that may be relevant.
Yes, very relevant. It is very upsetting to me that this forum has a bug in it or something that prevents me from reading the uploaded attachments like a StreamFab.log. Mike_M has the same problem and I know it is frustrating for him, too. If I could read your StreamFab.log, I'm sure I could figure this all out. What I did was setup my SF settings to match your settings based on the information your MediaInfo told me. The main changes I did were that I remuxed to file using FFMPEG rather than Mkvmerge (MKVToolNix) and I switched from Stereo to Multichannel. I then did a download of Infinite and compared MediaInfos. They were a carbon copy except that yours is missing a Text section, meaning no subtitles. I'm including my StreamFab.log for when the Developer has a chance to look at yours and mine.
Perhaps you could post a small portion in text here of your StreamFab.log. I'm interested in the section where it says "Subtitle Info empty". It might be in the area where my log shows the following:

As Alice said, "Curiouser and curiouser!"

Thank you for giving me exactly what I asked for. From that I think the problem is either that StreamFab is not pulling down the subtitle file or for some reason it is not placing it in your Temp file like it should. I have a few more questions related to the latter.

The default General Settings for StreamFab looks like this -

And StreamFab.log is showing that you are using this Temp Directory address - D:/My Documents/DVDFab/StreamFab/Temp/outputTemp/Paramount+/ which sort of looks like a customized cross-breed of the default Temp and Output directories. First question (and only, for now): Does this directory even exist? I don't usually associate a "My Documents" folder with a D drive. If at all possible, could you post a screenshot of your General Settings, as I have.

I thought this was going to be a piece of cake but it is turning out to be more convoluted than I thought. If the problem is that SF is not actually downloading the subtitle files, then we'll have to wait for the Developer to look at it to see why. It seems like a localized problem to you though so I'm still thinking it is related to this Temp directory.

I don't recall setting up those file locations in My Documents. I would not normally place any program-specific files there. But I must have for some reason.

The StreamFab temp folder does exist. A screen shot of that folder's structure follows a screenshot of my settings.

I really appreciate your time and effort. I always download subtitles because of having a degree of hearing loss. I may have to just give up on Infinite, or watch it without subtitles.

In the meantime I will change the file locations to place them somewhere else than in My Documents and see if that helps. I kind of doubt it because when I downloaded Forest Gump a couple days ago, the subtitles were included. And I have downloaded movies from Paramount+ in the past and the subtitles were present in the downloaded files.

The screenshot, that you posted, of your Temp folder is of the C drive and not the D drive. This PC > Documents is a shortcut for C:\Users\<user>\Documents. What you have in your Settings screenshot is for a directory named My Documents on the D: drive, which is totally different. Windows stopped using My Documents in deference to just Documents in, I believe, Vista.
I believe that if you are going to use Customized Directories (which I recommend), simplify it. Don't bury it three or four layers down. Make up directories directly off the D: drive. You seem to have a lot of room on that drive. Sort of follow my example from my screenshot above. It doesn't have to be exactly the same. I have lots of drives and so I like to spread the action around.
I bet once you fix up this directory issue, you'll have your subtitles.
By the way, I'm totally deaf in my right ear from a tumor that ate through those tiny hearing bones when I was 8 years old. So, I can appreciate your need for subtitles although I don't use them myself. Far easier to bother my wife with "What'd they say?".

I changed the StreamFab folder locations. I made a new folder directly under the D root. Within that folder I placed a temp folder and a log folder. I changed the output folder to a new one one that is at the root of one of my SSD drives so that, after download and checking the file, it will be faster to move it to one of the drives where I keep my movies for playing with a hardware media player.

I closed and restarted StreamFab (in case settings changes don't take effect until restart). I downloaded Infinite again with this folder setup -- still no subs. The log still shows those messages about subtitle empty.

It is odd that it works for you and not me. And odd that other movies from Paramount+ have subs in the downloaded file.

Arrrgghh! I definitely thought that would fix it. I'm out of ideas for things you can try or change. It's time to turn it over to the Developer to look at. Sorry! It may or may not take them some time to look at it due to the upcoming Widevine CDM change. That's part of the reason why I dug in so deep to try to find the answer to the problem. I wanted to lighten their load during this time while they are trying to figure out the DRM change.

                              Mona,
Please send this over to the Developer when the time is right. Dalemcci and I have both included our StreamFab.logs. Mine works, his doesn't. Thanks!
