download speed

Newbie here. The first few downloads were really fast - the last few either fail or peak at 961 kb. Router speed is 100 Mbps....what is slowing me down so much between router and PC? Never had this issue until I downloaded the first 5 or 6 items. PC hardwired to router. Have run down all standard 'slow download' PC issues....
