6.1.3.1. HULU multichannel EAC3 selection only downloading AAC 5.1 64 kbps stereo

With the latest 6.1.3.1, even when selecting multichannel EAC3 audio when a series offers it, either:
    1) only the first episode is in EAC3 (255 kpbs 6 channels) and the rest download in AAC 5.1 (64 kbps 2 stereo), or
    2) all the episodes just download in AAC.
Except for that first episode, it's like AAC is the default that can't be changed. It doesn't matter whether I select a single episode out of sequence and DL it separately or select all episodes and DL in queue, the result is the same - I can't get around it.

I was actually doing better with an earlier version of SF last week - I could DL most of "The Dropout" in 1080p and in EAC3, but now everything only downloads in 64 kbps AAC.

    The developers will check, thanks.

I am experiencing this same issue with Netflix downloads. Just started. The download report states:

"Videos on the streaming service offer better quality than your presets, StreamFab had downloaded the better version for you."

Like the original poster my preset is configured for EAC3. This is happening to all my downloads from Netflix at the moment. Thanks!

        Gaah, what a pain!

However, I'm not sure it's exactly the same issue. The streaming quality of the series offered in Hulu does match my presets - and I know that because I can check by using the competition to see if the episodes are available in EAC3. And like Netflix's "Arnold," they are - but SF unfortunately can't deliver.

That SF had a selection between EAC3 or AAC in the series' download menu indicates to me that SF actually can and did detect that availability, but the result is that either
        1) only the first episode will download in EAC3, while the rest just download in AAC, without the notifiction you've shown
        or
        2) all episodes of the series download in AAC - again, without the notification you got.

So unlike your issue, SF isn't detecting any incompatibility between my EAC3 presets and what it's actually downloading in AAC.

I have been able to DL some movies in 1080p/EAC3, so it's not entirely an across-the-board issue, but they're very few - you didn't mention if you tried to DL anything outside of a series on Netflix.

I'd actually start a new thread specific to Netflix about your issue, to ensure that Mona and the developers see that "hey, we're really giving you great quality here!" report it generates! There may be others using Netflix who have this same issue and are looking for it, but they might not see your post as this thread is specific to Hulu.

In this case my issue is identical to number 1 as listed in your reply. And yes, I get the error message. All episodes are available in EAC3. So it is similar.

I used a competitor product (from a brightly colored animal) as well and it works fine, all episodes download as EAC3. This issue only exists for me in StreamFab and just started..

I will not start a new thread but also won't comment on this one any more either if you feel it detracts from your issue. My workaround for the moment is to use the other product. No worries.

What artsunlimited was trying to tell you is that each streamer module is written differently although at times they may show similarities. The practice here, for as long as I've been here, is to keep the problems of the different streamers separate. Netflix problems don't belong in a thread that was started as a Hulu problem. He was just trying to give you a headstart in the process of getting your problem fixed because if he didn't tell you, Mona or Wilson (the StreamFab staff) would be telling. The difference being that they won't even tell you that now until Monday when they come back from the weekend. Then if you write up a new Netflix problems report on Tuesday then you'll have to wait until Wednesday to get a reply from Mona telling you that she is sending it to the developers. If you had sent your own Netflix problems report initially rather than tacking it on to a Hulu message you would, in theory, have your problem solved much quicker. Artsunlimited was doing you a favor. Now you can write up your Netflix problems report over the weekend and it will be sitting there for them when they return on Monday.
By the way, if you were to do the same thing over at the competitors, you would get the same reaction. They do not want streamer problems mixed on their forum either. Lord help you if Angry Fox (my name for the head moderator there) is the one that alerts you to this.
Another similarity between competitors, you need to add a log file when you report a problem to their forums.

RACERX, very much what Cats4U said. You have a legit Netflix issue that's similar - but not identical - to this Hulu glitch, and it's pretty much buried in a Hulu thread, where Mona has already alerted the developers about it - and maybe only just Team Hulu if there is such a thing, for all I know. I suggested it not because I felt it was detracting from the Hulu issue, but because it's very much about your NF problem not getting the attention it deserves!

If you're ok using the competition to get around it, it's all good (me, I hate the fact that they don't capture the thumbnails that are shown, and when I've asked the Cantankerous Vulpine if they could please to the nth power provide decent thumbnails so they didn't by and large look like a tangle of plumbing connections, I was told that real developers don't care about fussy aesthetics like that), but you would be doing everyone else here a favor by highlighting it in a separate thread. Because until you do that, you actually have no way of knowing if it only affects you, ya know?

I love it! Excellent use of the English language. I'm sorry to say that I had to look up Vulpine. I thought it had something to do with Star Trek. When in doubt, go back to a Latin origin word. You get extra points for that. Good job!

Once again, i will volunteer my services in configuring this awful VBulletin on this forum so we can at least be able to Like posts like artsunlimited's

If there is a forum admin reading this, please do:
                        • Enable "liking" posts
                        • Enable opening of non-image attachments
                        • Bump up the size of resampling the images posted. ½ the time you can't see the text of the image because it's too small
                        • Enable "Polling" post types
                        • Update the versions Prefixes and add more prefixes such as Bug, Request, Question
Or better yet, ditch VBulletin and migrate to XenForo which is vastly superior. It's $160 for a license and that's without any need for a perpetual 40% off

All excellent ideas and well overdue. The only thing I've never been too keen on is the "Polling". No problem, I just won't use it.
While they are at it they might want to remove the list of links to the 50 or so Turkish Escort services that are hidden in the source code for this forum. Some are extremely graphic. Maybe they aren't hidden for Turkish users here? I'd love to hear from a Turkish user here as to whether they are being bombarded with third-party smut ads in this forum. Just another way to make a buck.

Any idea what version of VBulletin they are using here? I couldn't find it anywhere on this forum. The latest appears to be version 5 but I get the feeling that that is not what is being used here. On the VBulletin website they have a ton of videos showing both user and administrator functions. Turning on "Likes" and the ability to see non-image attachments for users seems to be a pretty straight forward administrative action. I don't know why they are having such problems when they said they tried to set it up. I know there is at least one old-timer user here that has the ability to read StreamFab.logs (and possibly once gave me a Like). Even without the very thorough video instructions from VBulletin, all they need do is see how that one user is set up and do the same for the rest of us. It's probably more likely that they don't want us to have the ability rather than they can't figure out how to set it up.

I thought the same a few months back but when i ran Wappalyzer on it, it was VBulletin 5

THIS. This is the content I'm here for.

No kidding, I really love how threads here can become incredibly educational. Just to add to the VBulletin wish list, I'd love to be able to view the post history by clicking on an member profile, rather than trying to find a specifc post through a topic search. Maybe this already exists, but whenever I try it, I'm told I'm not authorized - even for my own account.

Heh, glad you enjoyed it! I sort of cheated as "vulpine" isn't a noun but an adjective, but I liked the sound of it - besides, I kinda thought "Irascible Reynard" was just a bit much.
