StreamFab 6.1.3.7 (WIN) crashes when downloading from Max (US)

After installing 6.1.3.7 (Windows), StreamFab crashed several times while attempting to download the final episode of "And Just Like That...," Season 2. Although I was able to play the episode directly from Max using my browser, I thought maybe I needed to give it a try the next day (because I was able to successfully download something else from Max without crashing). As an added precaution, I deleted all the StreamFab cache files.

Today, it still crashes on the same episode, in addition to crashing when I attempt to download the new movie "The Flash." I deleted the cache files yet again, but it still crashed while analyzing either of these two files. Looks like the application is unusable for me until this is fixed. I've attached my log file.

    StreamFab.log

[Not sure if this is important, but the parent Cache folder--which is normally empty--is filling itself with folders and files now after each crash. Let me know if any of these are needed.]

are you trying to download both The Flash & And Just Like That in 1080p ??
try 720p and see if streamfab still crashes.

No. Since switching over from HBO/Max to Max, I haven’t seen a single episode or movie that’s in 1080. Everything is 720.

Just to be sure, though, I just switched Video Resolution in Settings to 720. Doing this didn’t change the resolution of either download, and it still crashes.

Note: I just checked Game of Thrones episodes. StreamFab is showing them all as 720, even though I previously downloaded the entire series at 1080 from HBO/Max prior to the changeover to Max. Is the reduced resolution a function of the current StreamFab, or is Max only streaming at 720?

I was able to get The Flash @ 720p using 6.1.3.4 today. Just FYI, in case someone wants to reinstall the older version if the newer version is acting weird.

This wasn’t an issue with 6.1.3.6 either. I’m going to have to check to see if there’s a way to install a prior version.

Edit: They used to provide download links for older versions of DVDFab (and probably StreamFab). I don't see them now. If anyone can find them on the site, as well as instructions for downgrading to a prior release, please post them here. Otherwise, I'll have to wait for the next update to fix this, I suspect.

Another tactic: Has anyone successfully restored an older StreamFab release from a backup? I could do that, but have no idea whether just restoring the StreamFab folder will work.

Edit 2: It appears that not everything on Max causes a crash during download. I just successfully downloaded the new episode of "My Adventures with Superman." It took close to 5 minutes to analyze it, but it did download.

StreamFab Tip: Running Multiple Version of 64-bit StreamFab on Same Machine

I don't think they can be mad at me posting the link to 6.1.3.6 as 6.1.3.7 is a disaster

I just don't understand why people don't save, like, the last 5 or 10 update files somewhere. We're only talking a measly < 400MiB each. If you don't have that sort of empty space on your hard drives/SSDs, you shouldn't be involved with downloading videos. I have all but a few of the complete 5.x.x.x and 6.x.x.x series of StreamFab. I'd gladly post them somewhere but I don't want to interfere with another one of DVDFab's money making operations to get every last cent out of their existing customers.

I can’t speak for others, but I’m not manually downloading them. When I launch StreamFab and an update is available, I click a button, and it’s automatically downloaded and installed over the existing one. Bye-bye previous version.

In my experience, only rarely does a new version work so badly that I need to hunt for a prior release. I’ve used DVDFab products for over a dozen years, and this is only the second time I can recall having to do this.

For as long as I've been using StreamFab it has been accepted knowledge and advice to NEVER use the online downloader. More problems have been traced to the online downloader than I can remember anymore. For the longest time the first question asked when troubleshooting someone's problem was "How did you install your StreamFab update?" Why this has fallen out of favor I have no idea but it still needs to be asked because it is still relevant. It has been suggested by myself and many others that they remove the online updater entirely to cut down on reported problems. At the very least, they should make the online update installer optional so you can turn off the popup if you don't want it. Do yourself a favor, download the offline update from now on and only use that. I always get mine from the announcement of the new release at the top of the yellow "sticky" section of this forum.
