StreamFab General Query Timing of DRM issue...

I suspected something like this would happen eventually, that request to Google was likely from Amazon Prime, the big boy. I suspected this to happen before the 29th, we know what that's about. Is there a time frame on remedying this and might it be better handled in the future with more communication between business partners?

There is no ETA to resolve this problem. Our competitor is also going through this as well, but you wouldn't really know it because, as usual, they are maintaining radio silence. They hate to let out anything that makes them look bad. Here, we are trying to be as open about this as we can be.
I have been told by a reliable source on the staff that the Developers have been working late into the night since this DRM change happened. They are also working this weekend. There are no two ways about it, getting this fix, as soon as possible, is a priority.

I'm sorry, what do you mean by "more communication between business partners"?

      I thought about that too

Not ETA - see Cats4U - Anyone wrote that last major DRM problem took 2 weeks
So I hope before Valentine's Day - but maybe not until spring

Nobody here knew beforehand - it wasn't an expired certificate

      @Cats4U
You killed your "Cat vs. Mouse" post ?

btw: I imagined my 100th post somehow differently

Didn't something like this happen at the end of 2022 as well?

Get the latest on what you need to know regarding Widevine DRM CDM for browsers and how it might effect you.

            6.1.0.0 2022-12-22
New: DRM technology upgrades to address DRM issues caused by streaming services' updated DRM protections on December 6th.

            5.0.1.3 2021-12-28
Fixed: An error when downloading streaming videos due to the updated DRM schemes.

            5.0.0.8 2021-12-03
Due to the updated DRM schemes applied on December 1st, some timely fixes have been made in this new version, however we still need more time to fix all other issues....

But this DRM change (end date) was known for a long time beforehand - sample

This time without prior notice !

                that was it here too.

It was clear that the old version would be deactivated at some point...

I remember in December I asked in the forum whether it would happen again this year... Now it happened a little later in January...And it will happen again in a year!
And it will bring Streamfab to a standstill again and again if the components under the hood are not updated in a timely manner.

And the interim solution in 2021 was to recode the downloads. At the time, this wasn't possible for me with my hardware. A film would have taken over 10 hours to edit...

my hope for the future. That the influence of jpp72 and Cats4U makes a difference in terms of the programs under the hood... I think they don't see it much differently than I do on the subject. If I'm not mistaken, someone has already criticized something because a tool underneath was too old...

That was the subject of my infamous "Two Week Warning" post. https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forum/softwa...o-week-warning That time we had some forewarning. The Developers were hard at work trying to defeat the DRM change before it even happened. But at the same time, everybody continued to complain about really minor problems that were then sent up to the Developers. My post was to warn the users as to what was coming and that the DRM change should be the priority for the Developers and not all the minor problems. I also warned that it might take some time to get the DRM change resolved and that they shouldn't bitch at StreamFab because it is all part of a cat and mouse game. I got a lot of hate mail on that one. It's fun reading now, but it was very painful then.

Yeah, there was some stuff in it that I felt in afterthought that I should have gotten permission on before I posted it. Also, I need to be very careful in the words I use (which is not a normal thing for me) because they could be taken the wrong way in a stressed time period such as this. Example: In the big red banner at the top of the forum, I used the words "over time" meaning that more and more modules may go bad as the different streamers start using the new DRM. That is turning out to be the case. Some individual (forcing myself to not use the name I want to use) on the Reddit website decided that "over time" meant that we were saying that it's going to take a real long time to get the DRM problem fixed. Grrrrr! The banner probably will be changed today. Jack is going to do it. He knows the right way to word things. He is a computer business professional, I'm just a retired old fart.

As much as this is a real pain-in-the-arse, and I in the UK have also been majorly affected by this DRM change hitting Prime (and just when I wanted to download a new Bigfoot documentary too, how utterly rude of Google), let us all just relax, take a nice step backwards and allow the 'brains' at Fab to do their thing and get the fix sorted! We know they will (sooner rather than later) as it's their business product that's being affected here... Money (or the threat of significantly losing it) is a great motivator! Deep breaths everyone...
