Peacock Peacock issue with 2 episodes of Season 3 of Resident Alien

I have StreamFab 6.1.8.3 and trying to download Season 3 of Resident Alien. It downloads Episodes 1-4 fine. For episodes 5 & 6, it downloads the audio fine, be very slowly, then attempts to download the video at the same very slow speed. They eventually fail. Then it goes onto Episode 7 and it downloads fine and so does Episode 8.

As an FYI, I did a clean installation using Cats4U's method. I also use the Ashampoo uninstaller he suggests too.

Is this a known issue for these two episodes? Could their be something wrong with my install?

I have also downloaded a few new and old titles from Peacock with no issues and several from Netflix and Amazon. So, everything else seems to be fine except these 2 episodes for me.

    Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

      october262,
Thanks for that suggestion. I just tried that and they still fail in the same way. I'm off to work now so I won't be able to respond or try anything more until later today.

      Thanks for your help!

Did you delete your Log and Temp folders first? Did you choose No to keeping your configuration? Did you shut down SF after you have the new update set up and then restart it to do a download? All those were in my instructions, not just using a "professional" uninstaller.

Peacock/SkyShowtime/Channel 4/DMM/FANZA: Fully fixed the DRM issue from v6.1.8.3.
Note: Download EAC3 2.0 audio from SkyShowtime will be fixed soon.

            FYI, I queued up S03E04, E05 and E06. E04 came down fine. E05 and E06 did fail.

And last night (with 6.1.8.3) I did download 3 movies and 2 seasons (44 episodes) of an 80/90's TV Show without issue.

So it does look like a problem unique to these two episodes.

Sounds like the files are corrupt on the CDN.....playing, you might see a blip, but missing segments would never copy correctly. Try downloading 720p....if that works, complain to Peacock that they are corrupt playing.

Yes, I did all of your steps. That is what I was referring to when I said "clean installation using Cats4U's method". I just added that I used the same uninstaller you suggested to confirm which uninstaller I used. I guess I can see how what I said could be confusing.

It looks like KidJoe confirmed that it is a real issue.

Thank your for taking the time to see if the issue could be recreated. Sounds like you have the same issue I have, so it wasn't a corrupt installation of StreamFab causing the issue. Must be an issue with the Peacock files then.
Going to try to download the 720p version to see if that works based on jimc115's recommendation
                  Thanks,

                    jimc115,
Thanks for suggesting that. I just did this and the same 2 episodes fails the same way even if I select the 720p version instead of the 1080p version. So, not sure what the issue is but I guess I will just let it ride for now and see if it ever gets fixed or when/if season 3 comes to Netflix, I will just get it there.

                    Thanks,
                    Chuck

I have to admit that I do something beyond just a normal clean update and have done it for well over a year. I am deeply annoyed that StreamFab uses ancient forms of various support programs such as ffmpeg, mkvmerge, mediainfo, their version of yt-dlp called youtubetomp3process, and other things. I update these programs to their latest updates. As an example, the MKVmerge (your remux program) version used by SF is version 68 from May 2022. The latest one out with security and bug fixes is version 85. Besides the changes I was used to when I ran SF 6.1.6.7, they made a few other changes it appears in 6.1.8.3 such as going back to the deprecated Python 3.7 from 3.8 (which is soon to be deprecated itself) The latest Python is 3.12.4. They also stopped using the Bin section of ffmpeg in the YouTubeDL folder. With the YouTubeDL folder, it might never have needed the Bin files there in the first place. I still need to do more testing on that.
I'll get to producing a detailed procedure for updating everything and posted here in the next few days, but there'll be a lot of disclaimers involved.

                          Cats4U,
Thanks for checking to see if it could download those episodes. This issue very well may be resolved by updating those extra programs they fail to use the latest versions of since myself and KidJoe can't download those 2 episodes.
I will certainly try to use your upcoming procedure to see if that truly was the issue.

                          Thanks,

They also stopped using the Bin section of ffmpeg in the YouTubeDL folder. With the YouTubeDL folder, it might never have needed the Bin files there in the first place. I still need to do more testing on that.
I'll get to producing a detailed procedure for updating everything and posted here in the next few days, but there'll be a lot of disclaimers involved.

It's partially done. When I do it every update, it goes really fast. Now that I have to think about what I'm actually doing and writing it out, it takes a long time. I give a lot of credit to those people that do technical writing for a living. I'll have it done before the end of the weekend if my wife doesn't find more jobs for me to do.
