They may be encoded differently. Check Mediainfo on each. The ones that work likely don't have DV, or are dvhe.07.0x or dvhe.08.0x files.

Its possible that something is changing on the AppleTV+ site, or behind the scenes with how StreamFab works, that is impacting the profile of the files you can download.

For example: With Max I've received a mix of dvhe.05.0x, dvhe.07.0x and dvhe.08.0x files when downloading. I only notice the issue on my bedroom TV (doesn't support DV, but supports HDR10) when trying to playback dvhe.05.0x files. My other two TV's and their players support DV so no issue on them. And the dvhe.07.0x and dvhe.08.0x properly fall back to HDR10 on the bedroom tv

(bold/italic in quote added by me)

SMPTE ST 2086 is HDR10 only.
    • If your playback equipment doesn't support HDR10 colors will look washed out/faded

    dvhe.05.0x contains Dolby Vision only.
    • If your playback equipment doesn't support Dolby Vision, then it will have a purple tint during playback.
Example: While I'm using a FireTV 4K Max Gne 2 which supports DV/HDR10, my Sony XBR43X800D TV only supports HDR10, so I get purple when playing back dvhe.05.xx files.

dvhe.08.0x and dvhe.07.0x contains Dolby Vision with fall back to HDR10.
    • If your playback equipment includes Dolby Vision support, then it will play correctly with the DV tone mapping
    • if your equipment doesn't support DV but does support HDR10/HDR10+, it will play correctly using the HDR10 mapping.
    • If your equipment doesn't support either DV or HDR10/HDR10+, it will likely give you green or purple tint, or look washed out during playback.

NOTE: some devices have issues with DV profile 7, or dvhe.07.xx, where playback gives you a black screen. I know this impacted FireTVs and Apple TV devices about a year or so ago. Kodi and Plex have added work arounds in their code, I'm not sure about other players.

NOTE: some software will do tone mapping if your equipment doesn't support DV or HDR, thus correcting the color issues. While VLC on my PC seems to handle proper tone mapping for HDR10 (dvhe 7 and 8) to SDR, it doesn't for DV (hvhe.5x). And Plex Media Server has a toggle for HDR Tone Mapping (this setting only impacts HDR10, not DV).

IF you've selected HDR in Fab, and it downloads dvhe.05.xx then AppleTV+ may only have HDR streams encoded as Dolby Vision and not Profile 7 or Profile 8 (DoVi HDR10), or Fab can't get a HDR stream that has both DV and HDR10.

I cancelled my AppleTV+ Subscription, so I can't try. In SF when downloading from AppleTV+, are there options for both Dolby Vision (HDR10 Compatible) and Dolby Vision, like Max downloader has, when selecting your video and resolution? If so, do both result in dvhe.05.0x, or does one give you dvhe.08.xx and the other give you dvhe.05.0x? If it only has Dolby Vision as an option on the drop down, then I would expect a dvhe.05.xx (Dolby Vision only) file.

I had the chance to review your the information you provided from mediainfo.

This is from your post: HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 5, dvhe.05.01, BL+RPU

I see what the issue is.

Whenever I see this dvhe.05.01 under the HDR Format, then I typically will see video that has the purple tint to it, just like the sample you provided us.

The HDR format should be at least dvhe.08.06. If it is, then you should not see any purple tint.

This is not an absolute, but every time I have ever seen any movie/tv episode that has the purple tint to it like yours, every time the dvhe was dvhe.5.01. When the same movie/tv episode is dvhe.08.06, then it looks perfectly normal.

Exactly true. That was my point, as well, in my post above.

Land of Women.s01e01 was not re-encoded by Apple (Encoded date: 2024-06-25)

And the x265 file I just downloaded with SF 6207 looks no different
from the one I downloaded after release

mpc-hc (with +5% brightness, fix for TV)

I play with mpc-hc on PC and duplicate with hdmi to TV

This is Dolby Vision. It should play fine on your TV. If you just play it on your computer, download the HDR or SDR version.

I've seen this many times in the past.

Every time I have ever seen this purple tint (and often green tint; and/or a combination of purple and green) it has been a HDR/Dolby Vision issue.

    Of course, since it is a downloaded video using SF . . . hmmm . . .

If you can, download and install the free program call Mediainfo. Once installed, open up the video in mediainfo, select text as the 'view' and copy/paste the information to a post here.
That info will help determine if it is the video(s).

Question: you are trying to watch these videos on a HDR screen, yes? and not a SDR screen.

OK, that's obvious and I would have noticed it anyway.

I'll download it again to test and manually check if it's been re-encoded
I should be home in 2 hours, so about 30 minutes later ..

Or did you adjust something on the monitor?

Can you post a photo (with time stamp) so I can compare when I get home

VLC Media Player and Windows Media Player both show the tint. Carpool Karaoke The Series has no problems.

Can someone try to download one of the problem files today and see what results you get?
