    YouTube Movies SD only

    Why don't I ever learn?
Yet again I've ripped myself paying for another module only to find it doesn't work. Paid for You Tube Movies to get just one movie because you can't buy a Bluray disc yet now paid for it and SF will only download it at 480. I have a dvd that can do that.

How can SF keep selling these products that don't work as they should

Yeah, I can't say. I almost always got just 480p using browsers, with movies & tv section. I was under the impression that if you rent the movie and are logged into YouTube via SF, then you would get at least up to 1080p.
I never rented any, so I can't say. The movies with ads I was under the impression they not only would come ad-free and again at least 1080p buying YouTube Premium but is not only outrageous at $14 a month but in the description of such I see no mention of getting the videos above 480p in a browser or otherwise.
But does offer a download option, they 'claim'. (Quoted from the Premium description, "Download videos to watch later when you’re offline or on the go").

It might end up yet another thing that is limited to browsers, as I know YouTube with ads I get higher resolution if using the YouTube app on Android, up to at least 1080p.
Hopefully, someone else who knows more can give a better insight into whether higher resolutions for download are available in any way, as also with YouTube Premium they 'claim' you get a download option for the videos.

I have a program that shows the higher resolutions on the ones with ads, but the crazy thing is if I try to go above 480p the movies just download scrambled or not at all with an undetermined error. I don't bother much with any of these types of programs with tech support anymore, as they all have no clue what's going on. I would love to know why the other program shows the higher resolution if not able to decode or adjust to the DRM for the higher resolution download. One other I have does YouTube, but I did get a reply that it won't do DRM at all, on YouTube.

I will add that the NONE DRM videos that have 720p/1080p or above do download at the higher resolutions.

I might Subscribe to this topic to see if there are any real solutions, I am hoping something may be posted by other(s) to help understand this.

I paid $9.99 to purchase a movie in HD from Youtube. So when SF advertised YTM as being able to download in 1080 I expected it to. I've had no response from support. Had I known it wasn't working I could have saved the purchase of both the movie and the module. I won't be taking SF at their word ever again. I had hoped for e trial download so I could at least test it and then I could have saved time and money also.
        Ripped off yet again

I did try and download it using an alternate method which showed 1080 but when analysing it simply failed and said the download was DRM protected, but then isn't that why we pay for SF?

You're not helping anyone help you by not including the Title of the movie nor your StreamFab.log.

The film is A Waltons Easter. I've sent some screenshots to support.
Using the analysing button it comes up 480. If I copy the link when I paste it into SF it analyses as 1080 but then fails saying about DRM.

And while we're at it I find now on most modules I often have to actually type the address as clicking on the Netflix or Amazon panel doesn't do anything

I guess I expected too much that someone else here out of 1,000's and 1,000's of members that someone would have rented or bought a movie on YouTube and know what's up.

I see you did now say you bought it, I still don't know if it's possible to go higher res via browser.
Is what you should do is open it in a browser and see what max res you have available. If you only get max 480p there, then SF will never get higher than what a browser can get.
As I said, I can get the movies with ads using an Android via YouTube app at higher res and/or using a smart TV and/or using a steaming device that has the YouTube app.

If you can get higher res in browse then you know 100% that it is SF, you can provide a log like cats4u said but if SF only offers at best 480p I doubt the log will tell very much.
SF support might eventually ask for a log, I am sure Screen Shots help, they may have helped here as well.

One last thing don't expect much from feedback, and it takes a minimum of 48 hours, most times longer, to get any response as it seems there too it's only one person mostly replying to them, the same as the continuous mention of a developer not developer(s).

I purchased the YTM downloader based on the advertised promise of 1080. If that's not possible I want a refund

I would highly suggest you fight it out with the people at dvdfab/streamfab in the member's area.

I looked, and it goes back to 2020 Google stopped offering rentals/purchased movies as well as movies with ads at anything higher than 480p via browsers.

Link 1 > YouTube still forces purchased movies to stream at 480p

Link 2 > Watch HD or 4K movies & TV shows on YouTube - YouTube Help

Looking at the streamfab position, you can download FREE movies/videos offered by other places on YouTube at 1080p and even, if available, in 4k.

And you can WATCH all movies on one of the devices listed in Link 2 at 1080p or 4k, if available.

But it surely can be looked at as a misrepresentation, saying YTM downloader downloads at anything higher than 480p.

I also can't find the other info I came across sometime back that it's possible an L1 CDM is needed, not an L3 CDM, which mostly then requires hardware and special knowledge to download. Which SF will never accomplish.

Regarding frustrations with YouTube Movies and TV, I have proof it's not (always) StreamFAB.

A change in 6210 StreamFAB fixed it for me...for a day or 2.

On the morning (for me) of Sunday, December 22, 2024, I updated to 6210 and !EUREKA! ...Iron Eagle (purchased months earlier but never available) analyzed and downloaded at 1080p! [media info picture attached]

                    Happy!

But yesterday, Dec 26th, I bought another HD film but I can only watch and download it as 480p (it's 1080p on the Android Youtube APP).

AND NOW I also can't download Iron Eagle at 1080p any longer; only 480p. Youtube is the culprit here.

I'll post back when 1080p returns for my 2 YouTube Movies.

wapitikev you accomplished what google itself says can't be done. That might explain why you can't recreate it. Bottom line, SF is misrepresenting, saying YTM downloader downloads at anything higher than 480p. Maybe it should be stated SF only does 480p unless it's your lucky day, and you may get 1080p and state it's a YouTube issue. NO, it's not truly an SF issue as SF can only download at the highest available resolution it sees available and on YTM it sees only 480p. Again JUST like Netflix and a certain brand of movies is only seen as available at 540p and again not an SF issue but Netflix and browsers. The apps such as the Netflix app and the YouTube app as stated below available on several set devices will always give the highest available resolution available.

So again YES it's YouTube, but SF should be more upfront in what resolutions are available and that it is YouTube. But SF doesn't warn either that a certain brand of movies on Netflix are only in 540p as they at least, I guess, figure other movies on Netflix are available in higher resolutions.

Direct from Link 2 in my past post ...
Whenever available, you can watch HD quality videos using the latest version of YouTube on:
                      • iPhone and iPad
                      • Most HD capable Android devices
                      • Select 2013 and newer smart TV models
                      • Android TV/Google TV
                      • Chromecast
                      • Apple TV
                      • Xbox One and higher
                      • PlayStation 3 and newer
                      • Roku
And BROWSERS are NOT on that list, and that's what SF looks like to websites. Browsers are the reason a certain brand of movies on Netflix are only available in 540p.
Browsers also stop 4k content, depending again on the provider.

I will also say again that cleverget can not get anything higher than 480p from YTM. It shows options up to 1080p, but anything tried higher than 480p just starts to download and then errors with no description of said error or error code.

Some people have their lucky day or days others even say Edge goes higher than 480p, but I have yet to see it myself as I use Edge all the time, others say Safari browser but due to it being only for macOS. I will never know.
Or maybe YouTube is finally getting some heat since this goes back to 2020 and maybe let some movies through at higher res then 480p.
For sure, it should happen, if people PAY to buy or rent the movies.

Despite sending the details I still don't have a refund. I've given them the title of the item and as its a purchase they won't be able to test it and it seems that many people know that 1080 isn't available so the module is a scam and I shall be contacting the bank to get a refund from these crooks.

I was looking to see if I could get a screenshot for the bank about the refund but I can't seem to find YTM as a download option anymore
