Fanza Fanza analyzing forever never downloading

It looks like Microsoft Edge can't play these videos. I get the same error in my browser that StreamFab sees (but appears to ignore). It translates to "

    Error: 1-10.0-4-131.0.0.0-V1001

An error has occurred. Please quit the player and try playing again."
Here's a screenshot of Streamfab popping up the downloader with the error in the background.

There is a chance this is VPN related. This is an article on Fanza about the V10001 error code. https://support.dmm.co.jp/digital/article/48195
I'm using Express VPN, which has worked in the past. I did notice that Fanza now blocks Express VPN's Tokyo location. But the other locations, like Osaka work fine (for loading the websites) but not for streaming... I'm talking to Express VPN about this as well.

Would be good if someone could verify if the Fanza downloader works with their VPN or while in Japan (without VPN).

I went through customer support with my VPN provider and it's most certainly NOT a Streamfab issue. My VPN won't let me play videos using the normal protocols either. Looks like it's time to find a new VPN.

Hi there, does it play fine without a VPN? When you get a chance, can you please upload a .log file for the developers could take a look at?

Fanza requires the user to be in Japan, I am not. So no it doesn't play fine without a VPN. I did some tests and it looks like while connected to VPN the manifest.mpd file can't be downloaded by Microsoft Edge. But VPN is required to access the website where the manifest.mpd file for the given movie is found. I read, in another forum about Fanza and VPNs that one workaround is to load up the website while on VPN, but disconnect the VPN to play the film. That's a timing trick I haven't figured out yet. But I was able to download the manifest.mpd file once the VPN is disconnected. But there's a final step I haven't figured out.
At this point, I'm certain the problem is with my VPN (to Japan) and that I will need to change VPN providers.
