The most important reason would be the choice of what to watch - not only now, but also in the distant future, when all that downloaded contents will be long gone from the providers, maybe even along with the providers themselves

About backfiring... I would say going from 100 to 200 would just be a blip on their radar. Going up to 2000 could be another thing though

In Hulu, if you happen to not have the magic plan, you almost never get 4K, many times not even h265. This is due to SF not fully analyzing the manifest sent to you if you have a plan such as a Duo plan. Even if you switch away from the Duo plan and back to one of the supported plans, your account is apparently forever modded to the newer manifest. Maybe someday soon they (SF) can fix this.
Let's compare notes here and see if there is a difference in plans.
        Accessing via a Duo plan...
So far, downloaded one single video in 1080p that wasn't available 1080p before. It was a slightly older documentary movie so all I got was h264, which is probably accurate. I will report back when I have more to report. I toggled to h265 in the download dialog but it still downloaded h264.

Anyone else? What plans have you got and what sort of content have you gotten?
I have found I always have to switch to atoms, even when the title has that available.

So far of all the items I've redownloaded at 1080, only 3 have been in H264. The two Ewok Movies and the Haunted Mansion (2003).

I have the Disney Bundle thru Verizon.

The landing page says "HD" but that really could mean 720. All I can find in the scene is 720.
I just checked for you and they only have max available for this title: (H.264, SDR | 1280x720 @ 5759 kbps (3.39 GiB), 59.940 FPS)

I can't find any information on the Disney website about which resolution works in the browser 2025. Does anyone know what works?

Great for owners of Samsung displays. Otherwise, everyone else has had the Dolby Vision standard.
