StreamFab for Windows hanging on accessing server information upon launch? Followed by "not authorized"?

Anyone else having an issue when launching StreamFab where its taking forever on the splash screen saying "Accessing server information" then getting a message that this computer is not authorized (even though it had been)?

It just started last night and is impacting both of my PCs. (USA, Comcast is my ISP) No change on either PC that I'm aware of.

    logs show:

I've rebooted both PC's, and my router. I've disabled my software firewall.

It appears to be an internet or PC configuration issue.

Toggling Norton VPN on allows StreamFab to start up normally, and authorize.

Is anyone else on the East Coast of the USA with Comcast/Xfinity having an issue? If so, then its a comcast issue. If no, I'm guessing its something on my PCs??

Have you tried to change only the DNS Server?

On my desktop PC, which is set for static lan IP, I changed from using Comcast's DNS to Google's (8.8.8.8/8.8.8.4), and did a DNS Flush and reboot, and I still have the issue.

I also found that turning the VPN on is only needed when starting up StreamFab, once SF authenticates, I can turn off the VPN and it works fine.

This is crazy, I never had this issue before.

Oh, and I built another PC which only has Win 11 on it. It too has the same issue. Hangs on the StreamFab splash screen saying "Accessing server information" and being unable to authorize. So its not a Norton or AV issue.

That is an unusual issue. In reality, VPN mainly changes IP via using different VPN servers as well as DNS and encrypts traffic.
I am in the East Coast, using Xfinity. The only thing I do is change DNS to OpenDNS. I just checked, and SF is working ok for me.
I don't think it's the host file, as I think that still is in effect using a VPN, but you could check it. (here)

you can restart/reboot the Xfinity modem/router to see, you can also factory reset it, if restarting doesn't work.
you can also do a Network Reset in Windows 10/11 by going to settings, then in the search type network reset, this will then want to reboot your computer.
          This resets Windows Network settings.

One last thing, go to the Xfinity app, security, and make sure advanced security is off. In the past, having this on caused issues for many Xfinity customers accessing 'certain' websites.
They may have fixed it, but I keep it off. Although again, I feel bypassing Xfinity DNS servers is a MUST. They were known in the past to block 'certain' sites.

Hope you get it working as I said, the only change I make is to use OpenDNS for DNS servers SF loads fine, I have not gone back to Xfinity default DNS to see if they are an issue or not.
I change both IPV4 and IPV6 DNS servers.

Stan001 Thanks for the suggestions. Re: network reset, since it does it on a box with a fresh install of windows, on which I installed StreamFab, i don't think its PC related (two existing and 1 new pc do the same thing). Hosts file is all commented. No IP's listed beyond 127.0.0.1 and 0.0.0.0 but those lines are started with # so they are comments.

While I have rebooted my router, my comcast gateway is in bridge mode acting as modem only. I did not yet try rebooting that. I will try that later tonight. My Asus routers require me to do a "dance" upon rebooting the comcast gateway. With the gateway being in bridge mode, I'm not sure if Xfinity's Advance Security is turned on, but I'll look into that.

Its odd that it just started as of last night, a few hours after I had successfully used StreamFab, exited it, and restarted it on the same PC.

Ok, I just thought I would throw out some ideas. You are most likely right if, in bridge mode, I doubt Xfinity Security is on.
It's something and seeing you say it's 2 computers then it's can only be the connection. I just use Xfinity's combo WiFi device, never bothered buying a separate router as their combo give the best Wifi speed you can expect, which still is not great. I wire connect to the modem/router, for my main computer, and get max speeds.
I remember losing the wire connection and had to contact my computer's support and the support dope was trying to update Windows 11, and I was like we are going to be here a while using wireless.
It ended up a driver for the wired connection. Yet wireless worked, but I was glad it did as to contact their support.

I can only say what works for me and like many other things what works for one may not work for another.

And today its working again, no VPN needed. Nothing else done since yesterday. I did not reboot my modem. I did not make any changes to my PCs.

So it must have been something in Comcast's network, or along the route taken from my PC to Fab's authentication servers

Stan001 for me, bridge mode and using my own router works best. It gives me flexibility on where to put the router. I get faster wifi with stronger signal, greater range, and more control of firewall settings. My Xfinity XB7 has 2.5gig lan port, and my Asus router has 2.5gig Wan port, so I also don't lose any wired speed.

The only issue is sometimes when the Xfinity gateway reboots and the Asus router didn't, the Asus router doesn't pickup WAN IP. I have to then switch off and back on. And my Router is in the 2nd floor bedroom and the gateway is in the basement... so that means running up/down stairs. Needless to say, I have both the router and gateway on UPS in case of power outages so I only have a problem if I'm intentionally rebooting the cable modem and forget to power the router off first.

ok, I get your setup now. I live in an apartment, so that makes a difference in what setup I need.
I get tired of Xfinity, but I know in this apartment building we will never get Verizon Fios.
I used to be kind of jealous of my mom cause her apartment complex had both Xfinity and Verizon, she got Verizon and you should have seen the huge difference in price she paid SO much less.
No modem/router fees, and not really much of any additional fees like Xfinity. Xfinity, it's like extra fees for everything.
