As always, reduce costs, maximize profits...
NEVER use the update function within Streamfab. Always download the offline file!

As I explained before, bitrates are not an indicator of a quality of an encode, what you ultimately care about is QP for MB/CTB/<whatever your codec uses as a unit of compressed picture>

Well, with H264, it makes a difference whether the bitrate is 1000 or 8000.

RTL+ is currently showing Titanic with a bitrate of around 1000-1500 H264. There are already icebergs before the ship has set sail... It's no fun to watch.

Well, you simply have no idea what you're talking about! Hint: I can encode better quality with lower bitrate by turning on some knobs... go actually read H.264!

How is your viewing experience impacted by that, it's mostly dark scenes

Since you know what you're talking about, you probably also know that we don't encode videos here. We download videos from streaming providers, which are all already encoded...

The image is riddled with artifacts...

You must be the only one who noticed, otherwise they'd be inundated with complaints... Speaking of which, why are you complaining here and not there?

I’m not sure if this is about Crunchyroll or RTL+, since the topic seems to have shifted, but it’s clear he’s not the only one—you can see that in the Reddit post (many others, including myself, noticed it on the day the new Re:Zero episode dropped).

It’s especially noticeable in dark scenes, but other scenes are affected too.
Overall, it just looks terrible. Sure, bitrate isn’t everything, but Crunchyroll changed the entire encoding settings, not just the bitrate.

As for RTL+, it’s no secret that their quality is absolute garbage.
The only decent thing is the CBR streams, but those aren’t normally accessible to end users.

I compared an episode downloaded from CR and Amazon Prime in 1080p a while ago, and CR's copy definitely had better video quality.
