Until very recently you could download any episode available even if it was listed as needing a PBS Passport (basically you are subscribing). That changed maybe about two weeks ago. Now they are enforcing the need for the Passport. They still are allowing you to watch an episode (which allows you to download) for a short period of time (14 days?) after the episodes first airs. Before, that allowed you to download the whole season at once even if you didn't have a Passport. Jack filled me in on that trick. Now, you have to download an episode once a week as they air. Is this what you are talking about

It appears that there is no Passport restriction on minor shows like Pati's Mexican Table. What I wrote about above applies to Prime-time shows such as Masterpiece Theatre, Call The Midwife, etc. I had no problem getting the Pati show.
One other trick about PBS - Not all episodes appear on the same date across the US. If you use the address PBS.ORG, it will bring up the website for your local PBS station. You can try other PBS stations around the country. The major PBS cities like New York (thirteen.org), San Francisco (kqed.org), and Boston (wgbh.org) sometimes premiere shows ahead of the other PBS stations and so you can download them sooner.

Thank you for the info and the tricks. Much appreciated. I've been a Passport subscriber ever since they started so no problem of access or downloads. The YouTube downloader has been incredible for me and what I needed. Never had a problem until PBS recently redesigned their website. The latest release of SF fixed my problem. Tried the saved download in the queue that has been failing, worked like a charm. Tried various others, old, new shows, all worked. Thanks for the fix guys!
