Differing file sizes

Just downloaded a series where the run times for each episode are, within a few seconds, the same. However, there is a marked difference in the file sizes as follows:
50 min - 2.16GB
50 min - 823MB
49:30 - 1.7GB
49:32 - 649MB

Any thoughts why such a large differece

Or they loaded incorrectly! Download the same files again to rule out a faulty download.

With some providers there is a 100% difference within a series ..
.. but with more difference I would guess different resolution or codec
