Amazon Amazon Prime Video - Forced Subtitles Problem

Since yesterday, Movies and Series with forced subtitles are no longer displayed as such in the selection before the Download.

This means you can no longer see which subtitles you are downloading before downloading.

Previously, it was always clear from the Name in StreamFab whether the subtitles were full or forced.

Perhaps something has been changed at Amazon ?

Yes, I noticed this yesterday too (not 6238 related):

Two days ago it show me "Deutsch" + "Deutsch - forced" (for same episode)
so I need to select both to get "de-de.dialog" and (if exists) "de-de.forced"

Here is my latest experience trying to get forced subs.

Selected Bosch Season 7 (because I know Ep.1 has forced subs). 2 options are "English CC" and "English".

When I select both, I get both. "English CC" is full subs and English is forced.

When I select "English CC", I get English CC.

When I select "English", which is the forced subs, I get nothing.

So the only way to get forced subs is to get both.

I am using 6238, but this also happened on 6237.

Interesting twist. If I try to get forced subs only and add to queue and then start all, there are no subs in downloaded file. BUT, if I select "Download Now", the forced subs are in the file.

When saving subtitles as SRT, the filenames for forced subtitles also contains for me the text "Forced".
However, this approach is obviously more complex (manually setting the 'Force Display'-flag, re-muxing, etc.). Very complex for series
My ticket regarding this has been forwarded, but the new update to version 6.2.3.9 still doesn't resolve the issue... unfortunately

In Germany, it looks as if forced is always the first

Try this to set forced as default (if you need):
Click to the left of the marker until you see the orange triangle

            With mkv (ffmpeg) I get
            Default : Yes
            Forced : No

but with mkv (mkvtoolnix) Default + Forced is set:

This works for me also without the 2nd (dialog) subtitle

Wilson.Wang the developer has to fix it.
NEVER use the update function within Streamfab. Always download the offline file!

TheRaven Perhaps what happened when you de-selected one of the subtitles is related to yet another bug in SF - which is why when you de-selected one...you got none.

When you unselect one of the pre-selected subtitle tracks, it removes ALL of them with the same language (or maybe all of them, I haven't tested). You have to open the dropdown again and re-add the one you wanted to keep. I don't remember which version I was on when I first noticed this.

That has burned me several times so I've thrown in the towel and have a post processing task that removes unwanted subtitles and makes the correct one default / forced.

My logic (without looking at the code) is something like this:

If default audio track === EN
                • Remove EN-standard tracks
                • Keep EN-forced, setting it to default: true, forced: true
If default audio track !== EN
                • Set EN-standard to default: true, forced: true
                • Set EN-forced to default: false, forced: false

AnttDvdFab I think you are right. It is just a bug and you just have to be careful when selecting or deselecting subs.

Germania Your post is very helpful. I learned something new that will save me some time. Now if only Amazon would show me the forced subs all the time, not just when they are in episode 1. I have the easy mod for selecting seasons and episodes, but it is a real pain.

This is actually a problem with Streamfab. This behavior also occasionally occurs in the settings. However, it has nothing to do with the original problem that Amazon changed something and Streamfab can no longer distinguish between the tracks or name them correctly.

Agreed. Which is why I said their experience was due to "yet another bug in SF". Nowhere did I say this had anything to do with the problem reported by the OP.

And why are you posting it in this thread?

This is not a collective topic for subtitle problems
and this has nothing to do with Amazon.
This makes it confusing for those seeking help

TheRaven said they were experiencing a certain behavior and I explained to them that it wasn't related to the OP's issue, but a completely different issue. I do not see how that is irrelevant at all and why my assistance had to be criticized.

There are plenty of other bad behaviors on the forum that can be scolded. Posting without logs, posting trash talk when it is your first post on the forum, etc. I don't post a lot, but I pay attention. When I do post it is not to complain about others trying to help.

Anyway, arguing about this is pointless. Thanks to the link to where my issue had previously been reported.

Yes, you're right that TheRaven started hijacking the topic.

I didn't mean to criticize your help in any way, just the place you both chose ..
.. I'm sorry if it didn't come across that way.
