    StreamFab for Windows [housekeeping] ballooning of %APPDATA%

    Just noticed that over the course of my using SF, what, two years or so,

    Code:
    %APPDATA%\Roaming\DVDFab\StreamFab\localdata\picture
    has ballooned to over 80Gig! Seriously, you don't need to keep all the pictures for every single download there (and isn't that what the TEMP folder's MetaPicture is for anyway)?

    Don't need the \Roaming after %appdata%. %appdata% points to the roaming folder in the appdata folder of your profile

    Code:
    %APPDATA%\DVDFab\StreamFab\localdata\picture
    But seriously, shouldn't that clear out on it's own...

        Yes, apart from cache (which I somehow managed to NOT clean for almost a year now - which is convenient, as this stores all the login data for services), you can safely delete the contents of the following directories, some of which are constantly growing:

        WARNING - this will also clean the queue and the download history!
        (which may be a good thing)
        Code:
        SF_TMP\outputTemp
        SF_TMP\picture
        SF_TMP\MetaPicture

        SF_APPDATA\localdata
        SF_APPDATA\taskdata
        where
        Code:
        SF_TMP = <SF Temp directory, set in Settings -> General -> Temp Directory>
        SF_APPDATA = <SF application data, usually C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\DVDFab\StreamF ab>
        Obviously, you need to close SF before doing any of this.

          perhaps jpp72 would write a batch file for this one day when he's bored out of his head...

            for what delete the two folders and that's it
            NEVER use the update function within Streamfab. Always download the offline file!

                I set a custom folder on my separate output drive, e.g., Z/SFAB and point all the temp and cache stuff there. Simple to just open SFAB and CTRL+A delete. Helps keep my C drive Macrium backups more tidy, too.

                  yup, I have my TEMP on a huge ram disk (64GB) so that's not a problem for me, but %APPDATA% ballooning was a huge surprise, in my case, I just create a junction to a separate directory on the ram disk for the localdata directory now that I know it balloons

                      Might be needed to ask also for V7 of streamfab.

                      That stuff should be cleared once SF is closed, as it's not needed.
                      I have recently deleted all SF stuff except for streamfab.ini and then installed the latest versions.

                      People will need to make note of this and can make their own bat or power script file to delete the main folders that are accumulating so much waste.
                      I get lazy and will, about every month or so, delete the folders manually.

                      I have considered, since it is possible, changing the locations of the temp and log folders, but it will still fill with waste.
                      I know I have a 1TB drive as my main drive, but I still don't like gigs of waste accumulating.
                      Things can't be fully accomplished without proper access.
                      Things need to be done with active moderatoration.

                      Disclaimer: Use of a VPN can NOT be fixed by StreamFab staff or members.

                        Someone told me once on this forum that if you delete just the pictures folder, then create an empty FILE named pictures (no extension) that it can't or won't create the folder. I just tested it and it worked.

                        Obviously you have to be OK with SF not displaying thumbnails in the download queue or muxing them into the final video.
