WH16NS40 optical drive

    UHD Copy WH16NS40 optical drive

    Just purchased this drive for UHD discs I inserted a UHD movie but the drive does not read it. Is this drive not compatible? if it is why isn't it seeing the drive/movie when I open up DVDFab UHD copy. Here's the log info.

    does the drive have the number NS50 somewhere on the drive label

      Thanks for the reply. One of the reviews on the LG home page said it could read and write UHD discs. As it goes it's not good to depend on the reviews.

      I'll look into the WH16NS60 shown in the list

        For WH16NS40 to be a friendly drive its firmware need to be no higher then 1.2 if it came with the 1.3 update it removed the friendliness and cannot read UHD disks

          Also I read this from junior member Johnathon

            There's the problem. It came with 1.3. Now it goes back.

                It is possible to downgrade it to 1.2 if you are tech savvy, do some research on google. That is the same drive I have and i was able to to the downgrade and now it reads UHD disks. Good luck?
