    TRUEHD, DTS-MA and 3D

Will this device support the audio types in the title? Will it is support 3D?

    Thanks!

My comments are preliminary until I receive my unit which I will have shortly and I will update my thoughts/comments as soon as I am able to.

As this device runs XBMC (Android) to catalogue and play files, I suggest that you have a look at the XBMC forum (xbmc.org) to maybe clarify your queries.

Of course, there will be some hardware dependencies but again I suggest that Fab will be looking at this very closely as it is an important requirement.

This box doesn't support TrueHD and 3D, it supports AC3 and DTS decoding and Optical/Coaxial pass-through.

        Thanks.

Does it support DTS-MA since it supports DTS?

Will this pass through DTS-master audio and TrueHD via hdmi?

Do we have any info on the chipset it is using?

Everything seems like a mystery right now. There is very little info on their site.

I hope so but as I use an Onkyo A/V receiver the pass through should be OK and let the Onkyo do the rest.

The chipset is on their site and it uses a Trident PNX8473 processor. I have never heard of Trident chips being used on set top boxes before as they used to be used on older graphic cards.

I agree the specs on the site are very sparse but I have taken the gamble and ordered one although I am very disappointed that it does not support 3D as most of the newer boxes do.

I thought this was supposed to be a fully featured box at reasonable cost, but that does not appear to be the case. If it is not up to par then I will upgrade to something that does and pass this one on.

I have a WDTV live and my issues with WD is that it doesn't play all bluray movies - Movies with multiple files/different sizes, usually just plays some parts of the movie but not all, as it seems to pick only the largest file, etc... Would appreciate feedback if this set fixes these issues. If these issues are fixed with this set top, then I would like to purchase one as well. Thanks.

A lot depends on how you create your Blu-ray back-ups. I personally prefer to create simple 'movie only' back-ups with one (English) audio stream and maybe one (English) subtitle stream along with chapters. Usually I save to .ISO but .MKV works just as well

The easier the files are to parse, the more reliable they are to play...

I totally agree with SMD's approach and never use ISO's. They are a PITA!!!
