why doesn't database update

After editing the metadata they show up great on web page, but on the media player (hardware) they still show up as if the metadata hasn't been edited.

Continuing on from before. This is what shows up on web page after editing.

TV series = 216
Movies = 857
videos = 48

Videos, are tv series that I can't match up and movies that are either pilots of tv series or movies that are extended versions or directors cut.

When checking media player (hardware) I assumed that the videos were the same as the web page, Boy was I wrong.

What I found was episodes from:
Continuum
Dr Who
Harrow
Sanctuary
Avatar the last airbender
Battlestar Galactica
Powers
Resurrection
Sliders
Outcast
Outcasts
Inquisition
Kyle XY
I then did a "update library" and they all disappeared except 4 movies that I mention above. On the web page I still had 48 videos. Some of the above TV series do not show up at all and many are missing episodes.
