I too would like to see enhanced compression options. When I am merging multi-disk movies it forces the size to DVD9 and compresses. I want to rip at full quality and compress only when encoding with another program.

This feature is a definite winner to me. It's not so much that we don't rip to hard disk (making the size requirement moot), it's just that sometimes, getting just that little bit of extra room allows us to use single layer vs dual-layer media for when we do need to burn (like for use in the minivan). As we all know, dual-layer media cost as well as burn times are still pathetic relative to single-layer media, and I'm not a big fan of compressing, i.e. reducing the quality of a Title one bit.

A solid example is the often huge DVD menus size, which could be compressed without much cosequence. Wait, you might say, "Why include the menus at all in your RIP"? The rationale is subtle, and I'll welcome any insight anybody has on this - does anybody not miss having direct subtitle or audio track selector buttons in the ubiquitous Windows Media Center remote control? In the absence of such buttons on the remote, but also because the software itself (Windows Media Center) does not offer a menu item to select these features directly, one has to include and go through the menus of the DVD. What a pity!

Being able to compress just the menus or other peripheral but necessary titles would therefore greatly help, and I wholeheratedly welcome this feature, just like it can be done in DVD Shrink.

This would be a great feature. I usually just rip fulldisk to my various portable hard drives. I don't want to pay extra for the double layer discs. When I need to burn one that won't fit on one Disc without compression I use Split, or Just Main Movie. But I really like to watch the extras etc.

So, I too would really like to be able to have the extras and menus etc. compressed differently.

I think that this would be a great addition for the advanced users of a great program.

I don't use disks. I use hard drives. I don't like compressing my movies to 8 or 9 GB... but 25 GB is way to large. Can we please at least have a movie only custom compression ? Let me choose 10 or 12 GB as needed for this simple process.

Turning FAB into Shrink for BluRays so I can wast money on frisbies not so important although I can see why some folks would like that option.

          Thank you !
