    How abt the other specs?
Because, just to have the same CPU does not give the same result.

Also mainboard, harddisk(s), ram, os, etc are importand for a test.
    To compare with other systems.

I tried the same thing last week. I installed the new Intel drivers from last month and did a few movies and found a huge improvement in speed and quality from the previous sets of drivers I have had. I was getting speeds of 150fps+ converting BD to mkv at 1080p. But sadly QuickSync still gives picture issues on some movies, especially in dark scenes. Even at 1080p I got blockiness and pixelation, sometimes so bad it makes the scene unwatchable. I went back to having just the decoder set to QuickSync, and the encoder set to software and I lost about 20% speed but the picture quality is perfect all the way through.

I just turned the Incredible Hulk into an MKV and got a similar result.

I have the same processor Marty, I think our systems are very similar.

Read this thread with interest and wondering, looking for confirmation that new iMacs support Intel Quick Sync?

I don't understand, the new iMacs use the third-generation quad-core Intel Core i5 processor — built on the latest Ivy Bridge architecture — is standard on the new iMac. It’s available at a clock speed of up to 3.2GHz. Or configure iMac with a quad-core Intel Core i7 at up to 3.4GHz

Well I was wrong! That's the problem. If the chip set on the mother board supports it and if you can use the integrated video HD 4000 or some such then Quick Sync should work. You'll need to verify all that on the iMac literature.

I just read that an iMac is available with the Z68 chip set and that Quick Sync is available in combination with Sandy/Ivy Bridge processors. Good news huh?

I have the i5-2500K, gig m/b Z68, but the m/b doesn't support Quick Sync! That was my only problem!

Need another m/b that supports it!

Z68 does support Quick Sync, What's the problem?

If you have a discrete graphics card you may just need to change the boot adapter in BIOS and plug the monitor into the mother board.

That is what I have to do, change the graphics selection in BIOS to IGD from PEG and plug the dvi-d cable into the mother board connection.

                                90312,
I went to gigabytes website and the M/B doesn't support it! Some Z68 M/Bs do some don't!, I'll check into what your saying, if possible than I'll sure will do it!

                                Do you have Z68 M/B?
