can't copy anything

I have had DVD Fab for maybe 4 or 5 years. Never had a problem but about a year ago couldn't copy ANTHING. Upgraded to V8 and did a couple of backups and haven't used it for about 6 mos and now tried Downton Abbey and it wouldn't copy. Not even sure what error message i got. Was thinking about upgrading to 9 but hate to waste the money if it isn't going to work.

I d/l DVD Fab 9 and it said it copied my newly purchased Downton Abbey. and they it said it was burned successfully. There is nothing on the DVD (usually I can see where it was burned) and I tried it in 2 dvd players

You didn't post the fabburn log but I will take a good guess here seems their are 4 shows on a disk so try turning pathfinder off in Fab settings and try again just for this disk that give you trouble like this one, when done turn it back on.

I am really sorry about being so dense. But when I go to General tab under Common settings I don't find Pathfinder. It lists Genreal A/V Codec, Preview, Sound, Network, Diagnosis.

Also the version 9 is very different looking that the Version 8.

See DVD on the top bar see screen shot make sure you click dvd for dvd settings ok.Also your burn rate is 8x your burning speed is set too fast burn at 1/2 disk rated speed 4x for this disk.Also if you use plus r disks like you have now check the box in screen shot #15 to make them play better on different machines.

If you tried the other things and still can't get it to work its a old drive and needs replacing.

After looking up the firmware for this drive the latest is from 2009 so sorry to say Samsung doesn't appear to support it anymore.

You can buy a new blu ray USB plug in burner drive for about $55.00 new check on line.

thank you for your time. I think it might be my dvd writer. I tried burning a music cd and it says it is writing but it gets to finalizing and it stays at 98 percent. then I tried my desktop and those drives are having issues so now I am going to try my husband's new laptop with my external dvd writer - although I tried that on my laptop and it says something about burning rights. So maybe I will try my husband's desktop. What a pain.
