While we are still talking about the CPU one other very important item you will need is Thermal Paste instead of the little sticker of (bubble gum) they give you

Yup I got stuff best buy sells Dynex and I believe I still have some artic silver laying around. Make sure I put a thin coating on but not to thin. Trust me its not my first PC I built but the first I want to experiment with Overclocking. I also fixed my Phat PS3 with the overheating issues (had to clean of GPU's and CPU). But I do thank you for that reminder. And I know clean the bottom of the fam with 90% rubbing alcohol.

While I have you here if my memory serves me correct, I use to use another (Software) where your user name and theirs was the same, just wondering if you and that other person are one and the same?

I didnt like the other software at all too much limitations not enough support and I really disliked the forum moderator. I bought their package that did everything hated it so much I sold it to my dad he only does dvd burning and thats where that company should have stopped.

Well I appreciate the help you and everyone on here gave me. Lots to think about. I can always test to see if over clocking the cpu will go higher but stay as cool with only a ,2 increase. And CBR929 thats pretty much why I left them in the dirt no replys and really the program sucks.

IMO overclocking is well worth it if you take your time and be realistic. I have the 965 BE and was able to reach nearly 4.0 GHz. My mobo is an older AM2+ and only runs DDR2 mem. with an Nvidia chipset. Your board may give you more headroom. I run an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro and if I have my CPU maxed out, which is hard to do under normal use, it runs at 48C well below it's thermal limits. I've OC'ed every chip I've had a 20% gain is nothing to sneeze at. Use a program called OCCT to test your OC it has a good temp reading in the UI so you can monitor while it stresses things. you will know quite quickly if it is stable. Prime 95 is a good indicator also.
If you plan on running a Xfire setup or a large video card I would take another look at your PSU. It can cause headaches down the road. I run two 9800GT's in SLI and had an 850W PSU and it would crash on me. After chasing my tail for months thinking it was a driver issue I found it was the PSU. It had two seperate 12v rails and there wasn't sufficient amperage on them to supply the cards and the computer would crash. I switched to a Corsair 750w with one big 12v rail and it's been fine ever since.
Good luck you'll really like that chip. Should have you down to a couple of hours.
                            Feel free to ask questions.

I must say the new build is great but it does like to jump up in the high 50c but still below the 64c max. I think it has to do with the heat cant escape the cubby hole its in. I can cure this by cuting a hole or large hole in the side of my desk and install a fan n the side to help kick it out. I updated the stock heat sink and fan to a cooler master Hyper 101 which helped make not run at 50c at idle it sits and 40c. I also just ordered a
120mm cooler master front fan which kicks out 45.7 cfms. I may also need to make the rear fan a 120mm. But I have to say it makes decryping movies a lot faster 3 hrs to complete the task is alot better than 24hrs plus.
