I did some testing using a Intel Core2Duo dualcore E7200 8GB DDR2-800 pc under Windows 7 64-bit and also a Pentium Dualcore E6700 6GB DDR2-1066 pc under Windows 7 64-bit. A friend of mine did the same ripping with a quadcore Intel Q8400 (4GB DDR2-800) under Windows XP. And guess what? Ripping to AVI (Divx/Xvid) was only a few minutes quickier with the quadcore than with both dualcores. We uses DVDFab 8.0.2.2.
Is Divx/Xvid only using dualcore? Problem wit H.264 is the lack of compatibility with several devices. That's why I don't like/use it. It is also much slower in converting.
