Not able to update or reinstall DVDfab

    Error I get.

internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "userappdata"

I uninstalled the program and cleaned out all the folders I could find but when I try to install the latest version I get the error above.
I ran as Administrator, no luck.

I did this and it still will not install:

Please follow these steps to change your registry settings: (you should back up the registry before making any changes)

Click on “Start-Run, type “regedit” (without the quotes)
    Navigate to this registry path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> Explorer --> User Shell Folders
Clear the key: Recent (right mouse click on the key/folder, choose “Delete”)
Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.

    Then reinstall DVDFab

    Regards,

    mona
    Please help.

    Hi Z_Ghost,

It is not a program issue. Please google this error message "internal error: Failed to expand shell folder constant "userappdata"" , there are several methods to solve this problem.

    Sincerely,

I did and so far it's a no go. I guess I will just have to reload Win 7.
DVDFab is the only program that is giving me a problem, I can install any other program without a problem.

        Thank you.

Probably NTFS permissions error, try to set them for userappdata.

Well I got it fixed and wanted to add how I did it in the hopes that it helps the next person.

I had to create a new admin user account, for me this is not a problem as I do not use my admin account for anything other then to add and remove programs and what little I do keep under that account I keep in 1 encrypted and password protected folder. So I was able to just delete that account after I created a new admin account and move my folder. I was then able to install DVDFab without any problem.

              Thanks for the help.
