How can I run 2 different versions of DVD Fab on the same machine

    The problem:

DVD Fab needs constant updates to deal with new DVD protections etc..So I want to keep updating DVD Fab. However, often a piece of functionality in another pat of the program gets broken by the update.

e.g. I was running 8.1.3.2 and it was fine for copying DVDs to .ISOs and the ripping funcion to make .avi files worked well. I update to 8.1.3.6 and the DVD copying still works well, but the ripping to .avi is broken as I can no longer add multiple .ISO files to the queue, if I do DVD fab stops working

    The solution.

Is it possible to have 2 versions of FAB on one machine, so an older one can be used for certain functions e.g the ripping and the other version is updated to deal with DVD copying and new protections?

You can have the QT and Non-QT, I thinks thats it.

Thanks, but doesn't really help me, the rip encoder was well broken until recently, so it needs to be the later QT versions..

I found, mostly by accident, that you can have one version of QT on the computer HDD and another on a USB flash drive. I have 8.1.3.6 on the HDD and 8.1.3.5 on the flash drive, both loads up. Just be sure when you install on the flash drive to uncheck all the start and desktop icon boxes or you’ll wind up with one version being called by the last icon(s) installed.

Like my friend 90312, I found through experimentation that you can indeed have multiple Qt versions installed on your hdd.

It is simply a matter of changing the file path (location) for the install folder.
For eg, I just installed 8136Qt, but elected to keep 8135QtBeta installed as it had run problem-free for me.

Here, I just dropped the DVD in the file location as follows:
Fab8136Qt.exe instead of the default location of DVDFab8136Qt.exe.

Currently, I have 7-8 versions of Fab installed.
This name modification is not necessary with major version installs or with Qt vs. non-Qt versions.

This can get a bit messy or cluttered if you're not careful or old like me...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I tried with 8.1.3.6 on a different drive, but with the same path except for the drive letter, the 8.1.3.2 version on my C drive wouldn't run, so I have changed the pathname as well (after reading the replies) and it now runs?

            Thanks for that

              Hi davecuk
This is from one of my posts to another member

TRY THIS During install when the screen comes up for destination folder C:\Program Files\DVDFab 8QT and start menu folder DVDFab 8115, I change the blue from DVD Fab 8QT, and add 115 or whatever version you are installing after the 8, which will allow me to have more than one version installed, right now I have 13 versions of 8 installed and running, it will put an icon on your desktop after installing that version but, you will have to rename the DVD Fab 8QT new icon to DVD Fab 8115QT or what ever the version that you have just installed.
Just right click the icon and click rename.

If you need an older version you will find them here

You will only find official releases no betas.

When downloading the versions you should make a folder on your computer and save all the installers there, they take up very little space.

              Hope this helped
