    tried something different

Ok, I switched from IMGBURN back to the VSO Engine and got same thing "unable to burn disc". The following is my VSO burn log and saw something strange here also. But I played the first burned disc in my Playere & it looks like it works right. So now I'm totally xxxxxxx confused

Cleaning the laser head with a special disc might help. Something like this one.

Another try could be to use 12x or 4x as the write speed.

Could also be the sign of a dying burner.

        Still cofused

I posted in another section about a problem when burning a disc for a TV Show. I just burned the new Planet of the Apes and had no problem with IMGBURN. But when I tried another disc from the TV Series, I had that same issue. I played the disc I did the other day and it looks like it plays fine, but I'd like to understand why it's not burning properly? IMGBURN log below:

Sorry, I'm just trying to figure that issue out. I tried a totally different disc on my desktop, but had same issue.

Then tried it on my new laptop & had no issues at all.

I don't think its the cd drive on the desktop, and I don't think it's the source disc.

I've had that problem with an HP drive that i have and i found it to be that the drive just did not like the media i was using. My suggestion would be to use that media in another drive or get new media that is compatible.

I've been using Memorex & Verbatim discs. This issue just recently occured with the Verbatim ones. Someone said Memorex are crappy, so I switched to Verbatim.

                  Hi jrogers1965
Check your cables for your drive.
Were these the Verbatim with the AZO dye on the package label or the Data life series?

Also try uninstalling the drive and let Windows reinstall the drivers.
Go to Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.

You could have a bad drive.

I stop using Verbatim because I get too many Costars. TDK, Optimum and Memorex always work for me. Pioneer and Samsung burners will burn anything all the time, but Pioneers are not good for reading disk if you have a scratch.
Plextor burner can read really bad scratch disk, even if you find one on the street.
