Yet when I insert the disk in the drive, I get a message the I need to either upgrade my license or wait for the next version of HD Decrypter.

As others have said, it looks like it has "expired" the "never expire" license of HD decrypter.

Just to clarify - I am trying to use DVD to DVD/Main Movie to copy the disk to the hard drive.
Well I have that DVD and once my trial has ended I will give it a go along with other movies as I do not think there is any problems with the free version. It is just the computers it is installed on and the user who installed it on the computer not knowing how to install correctly

I knew the free DVDFab HD Decryptor worked and soon the trial will run out on mine and I will report the same thing as I have never had issues with DVDFab ever

I have a Laptop that does not have any DVD ripping software on it, I will install the latest DVDFab HD Decryptor version and get back to you with my results.

Yes, up until the last version (couple of versions maybe, since the original poster has a slightly older one), this was indeed the case and it worked fine for me. It's only very recently that these problems started for me, after 30 days of using the latest November 11th version.

So the protection is not the problem here, is it ?
Hence the trial version expiration is taking HD Decryptor with it just as he says.

I would say that there is safety precautions included in the software to prevent people from trying to use more than one trial period.
I like the software and therefore purchased it and am very happy with it.
I have zero problems backing up any dvd.
I would rather have the paid version and have no problems. Than to have to wait for 60-90 days for updates.
Because there will be backup problems during the waiting period for those using the free version.

    This is a serious problem.

I am having the exact same issue, and so are many others. I registered to specifically make this post to confirm that many of us out there are getting this issue.

So, let's go into some more detail about the problem:

-It does not matter what movie you try. Very old movies don't work either.
-If you uninstall the software completely AND clean the registry, you get exactly 1 rip of any movie after reinstalling. After that, you get the message again until you uninstall and reinstall.
-Trying to change to the trial again does not have any effect whatsoever
-This is a *new* issue with the policy change, it has never happened before

I do not have any problem with the new policy about waiting 30-60 days for free users. It makes perfect sense that paid users get the updates first. However, this is a separate issue. The "free" feature (the only one we get, ripping a DVD to the hard drive) no longer works correctly.

I hope this information helps the developers to address the problem. It appears to be an implementation problem (a bug) with the new version. Thanks for the software and I look forward to being able to use it again, and will purchase it if/when I need the additional features.

That was the 1st time it had been run from the Admin account or with Admin privledges.
Bottom line here is, the trial version expiration is taking HD Decryptor with it. Someone......preferably with not so short arms and not so deep pockets...please prove me wrong.
That's not the attitude to have if you need help.
The free version works, but not with the latest protection found on some new releases.
You will have to get the paid version for it to work with those titles.
If not you can wait with the others, who don't have the paid version.
For lets see about 60/90 days.

The HD Decrypter features should continue to be available when the trial expires. Will be interested to see what the very patient AGJ finds.

No I not have patience and in no rush to test the free version as I have the paid version on my main computer and it works great no problems for me
