By running it as another user.
So the protection is not the problem here, is it ?
Hence the trial version expiration is taking HD Decryptor with it just as he says.
Sorry guys, i am not having these problems and therefore can't help.
Before i purchased this software, i could still copy any dvd that did not have the lastest protection on it.
This was long after my trial period had ended.

Yes, up until the last version (couple of versions maybe, since the original poster has a slightly older one), this was indeed the case and it worked fine for me. It's only very recently that these problems started for me, after 30 days of using the latest November 11th version.

I have a Laptop that does not have any DVD ripping software on it, I will install the latest DVDFab HD Decryptor version and get back to you with my results.

Well, I installed 6.2.0.5 on my laptop and the trial version worked. So I then changed the computer calendar to make the trial expire, and even with the trial expired it still worked. Sorry, don't know what the problem could be for you. As far as I can tell the free version works as it should.

I had installed v6.2.0.5 on a separate Win-XP SP-3 partition on 11/11/09 when it first was released to kick the tires. That trial period has now expired and the DVDFab info window indicates the "DVD to DVD" option is expired -- all the options except "full disk" and "main movie" indicate they are expired. I just launched it and used the "main movie" option to rip a DVD to an .ISO file. It worked without issue.

I knew the free DVDFab HD Decryptor worked and soon the trial will run out on mine and I will report the same thing as I have never had issues with DVDFab ever

                  Also not working for me

I installed the 11/11 (version 6.2.0.5) of the sofware. I only rip an occasional DVD, so I thought that the free HD Decrypter license would suffice for me. After the 30 days have expired, however, I am seeing the same issues as others posting here. The movie I am hving trouble with is The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King -- Hardly a recent disk. Yet when I insert the disk in the drive, I get a message the I need to either upgrade my license or wait for the next version of HD Decrypter.

As others have said, it looks like it has "expired" the "never expire" license of HD decrypter.

Just to clarify - I am trying to use DVD to DVD/Main Movie to copy the disk to the hard drive.

Well I have that DVD and once my trial has ended I will give it a go along with other movies as I do not think there is any problems with the free version. It is just the computers it is installed on and the user who installed it on the computer not knowing how to install correctly

"Main Movie" is not part of the FREE product.

Actually some users of the free version are saying it is which is why I am going to give it a try once the trial is over

I think they are being ever hopeful but let's see what your test turns up.

I would like to know myself.

I think I used it once or twice back in version 3 or was it 4 but I purchased it right away and have not used it since. So I need to know what it can or can't do and will poist so all can see

What is part of the free trial - the software is anything but clear on what is available after the trial license. No place in the software do you see the text "HD Decrypter", yet that is what we are told is free. I followed the links to download the HD Decrypter, yet they just take me to the download for DVDFab itself.

Also, I'd like to point out that the error message did not come right away - I ripped about 3 other disks and then came to this one, and that is when I got the message - so it happened in the middle of a session.

Click on the Blue ? in the top right and select "About". It's ALL built into the same main app called DVDFab, which is GREAT, don't have to install multiple apps. The different tools are cover under how you are licensed.

I was wanting to do that also, just never around to trying it out. Waiting with anticipation ...
