    Install locks up

I've read all the different threads on here about getting DVDFab to install in Windows 8 (64 bit) and tried all the different methods. No matter what I do, neither v8 or v9 will install for me.

In my last attempt, I updated the AMD Catalyst (13.1) drivers for my HD7700 card, disabled and exited any AV or other apps within my tray, ccleaned the registry and apps and ran the install as Admin. It places the icon my desktop and the installer switches to "Finishing" and then hangs. After letting the PC sit for a while, I returned and it was still hung. Powered it down and back up. The icon on the desktop was now a blank shortcut link. There was no uninstall option within the add/remove software, nor any links within the Start screen.

I ended up manually deleting the DVDFab 9 directory under Program Files (x86) and found nothing within the Registry to remove. Is it that the installer never actually gets to the point to write the entries into the registry?

I am a longtime life member of DVDFab and love the product, but not so keen anymore on the installation of it. I successfully got DVDFab 8 to install on my Windows 8 laptop. I'm at a loss of why it won't install on my desktop.

    ASUS Sabertooth Z77
    32 GB G.Skill RAM
    ASUS AMD HD7700 2G PCIe
OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (OS drive)
WD 3TB RAID1 HDD (Data drive(s)) - Completely lost this the last time DVDFab installer locked up.
    Kaspersky 2013 Internet Security

Win8 was upgraded from Win7, but I chose the option to not preserve anything. When Win7 was installed on the same hardware DVDFab 8 & 9 ran perfectly. My primary SSD failed so I re-installed Win7 on a new drive and upgraded.

I noticed v9.0.2.7 Beta is out.

I'm going to take image of my drive and then try the beta version.

This way I'll have something to roll back to in case it doesn't work again.

Will let you know my results.

I don't know if you can make a case based on two AMD processors, I'll need more data myself.

    Is this +1 for Intel?

If you check the system log after the failed install, do you have multiple errors of the same kind and if so, what is the error?

I wish I could tell you. May not be a setting at all, just the way the BIOS runs the machine.

What settings would you like me to look for in the BIOS?

    That would be awesome!

    Thanks again

    Could be...

I've successfully installed it on 2 Intel machines (I've got multiple licences...that's how much I love this software)

    - an old Core 2 Duo P8600
    - a brand new i5 3570

Both installed flawlessly...it's only the AMD 1090t on Windows 8 where it fails to finalize.

Don't know how AMD and Intel handle installation differently in Windows 8?

Hopefully this will help the Devs to solve this problem.

Thanks for responding so quick to my posts too.....makes it much easier to discuss what tests we've done.
