I've read all the different threads on here about getting DVDFab to install in Windows 8 (64 bit) and tried all the different methods. No matter what I do, neither v8 or v9 will install for me.
In my last attempt, I updated the AMD Catalyst (13.1) drivers for my HD7700 card, disabled and exited any AV or other apps within my tray, ccleaned the registry and apps and ran the install as Admin. It places the icon my desktop and the installer switches to "Finishing" and then hangs. After letting the PC sit for a while, I returned and it was still hung. Powered it down and back up. The icon on the desktop was now a blank shortcut link. There was no uninstall option within the add/remove software, nor any links within the Start screen.
I ended up manually deleting the DVDFab 9 directory under Program Files (x86) and found nothing within the Registry to remove. Is it that the installer never actually gets to the point to write the entries into the registry?
I am a longtime life member of DVDFab and love the product, but not so keen anymore on the installation of it. I successfully got DVDFab 8 to install on my Windows 8 laptop. I'm at a loss of why it won't install on my desktop.
ASUS Sabertooth Z77
32 GB G.Skill RAM
ASUS AMD HD7700 2G PCIe
OCZ Vertex 4 SSD (OS drive)
WD 3TB RAID1 HDD (Data drive(s)) - Completely lost this the last time DVDFab installer locked up.
Kaspersky 2013 Internet Security
Win8 was upgraded from Win7, but I chose the option to not preserve anything. When Win7 was installed on the same hardware DVDFab 8 & 9 ran perfectly. My primary SSD failed so I re-installed Win7 on a new drive and upgraded.
Sure thing and thanks for the feedback, there have been several cases like yours. Sometimes the install as admin works even when the OP is the computer admin. and sometimes it doesn't. Now I will ask them if they have an AMD processor and see if I can prove the theory.
