    Another Disheartening 8225 v. 9017 Review

Finally, I was able to do a side by side comparison review of these 2 versions on the same Bluray: RIO-a Blue Sky Cartoon.

Here are the results that have more than disturbed me by the gross inferiority of Version 9 as follows:

    Version 8225: Faster loading.
Easier to select the desired audio channel.
16 minutes only to finish the whole process.
    Smaller file-24.3G in a single file (800).
    Has Chapter access.

Version 9117: Seemed taking forever to load.
Must use Custom to select only one HD audio.
27 minutes to finish the process.
Much bigger file-36.4G, 10G more, in multiple files.
    Even worse, NO CHAPTER ACCESS.

To any normal human being, 9 is not a progress by any standard. It is a crime (sorry for being sarcastic).

I then did another test of 9117, using the default Main feature and I ended up with a result of 24.6G (still 300 mb more) with 2 audio channels (HD and another channel with director's remarks that I don't need). It took 18 minutes and has chapter access.

In short, the developers must be mindful of such gross deficiencies of Version 9, among others as noted before by many other members, e.g., no PCM for ripping), before de-commissioning the well tested and well loved Version 8.

I suspect that Version 8 must have taken over a decade to perfect. Please do not trash such a well tested and loved version before the 9 is equal to or better than the 8.

Otherwise, many may feel hijacked against our will.

    Another sad news for 9017.

This 9017 crashed Car2 (bluray) twice after forever loading, but before opening the folder. The 8226 finished the same Cars2 within 16 minutes without any hassle. BOTH LOGS ARE COPIED BELOW FOR THE TEAM TO STUDY FOR CORRECTION AND IMPROVEMENT. THANKS,

    DVDFab 9.0.1.7 (2012/12/25 15:24:03)

Version 9 will be fine it is still a work in progress instead of getting upset about improvements being made in each new release of version 9 they are still updating version 8 for all dvdfab users to use.
I don't see the problem at all the company could of discontinued version 8 all together but they did not instead we have two versions use version 8 and stop bashing a company that is working its A$$ off to get version 9 to where it needs to be.

Thank you for your caring concerns.

I am sure that the Team will "eventually " get 9 right. My impression was that the Developer was ready to discontinue the 8 soon, given the haste they upgraded a beta 9 that was still plagued with material bugs to an official release.

As long as the 8 remains until the 9 is perfected to a comparable stability, I am happy. Nevertheless, I still feel compelled to advise the Team of the bugs that I have encountered for common benefits. Accordingly, the sarcasm is removed to reassure my hope and support for the Team.

Nice to see you compared the two versions though and I am sure it will benefit not only Dvdfab but also all of it's users.

              dvd fab9

i for one hope that fab 8 stays around for i CAN NOT for the life of me get verson 9 to run at all. it just sets ther and does NOTHING. i have a home built pc with win 2000 pro. that verson 8 works great with and win xp that will
run verson 8 but REFUSES to run the so called beloved verson 9. i have tried every update of 9 with the SAME response NOTHING. So if they drop verson 8 I'm screwed and tatooed as they say.
