How to rip DVD, avoiding bad spot

I have a DVD with a bad spot on it (I/O error) that cleaning, etc, does not correct. How can I make a copy of this DVD, skipping over the bad spot?

(Note that the error prevents DVDFab from completing its initial scan.)
